More street litter. Is that other piece of 'street art' that was going up near Princes Quay proceeding still? At least it will have some competition as being the worst designed sculptures ever, what are they thinking?

It's not going up near Princes Quay, but I don't think they've given up on it going ahead somewhere else.

How is any visitor to Hull going to see the correlation between a giant ball and the blitz, other than having to read off a plaque? Mental.

On the topic of the Blitz, while building the new walkways for CoC2017, they've found remains of Ye Mecca smoking cafe...

It was in the basement of the Prudential Building and 16 people were killed when it took a direct hit while they were sheltering in there.

That is amazing. Is there any plan to reinstate it anywhere or keep it? I love stuff like this.

They've covered the mosaic and left it where it is, but other bits of the Prudential Building are going on display at Hull History Centre...

The glitter ball... in prime location for someone to puke on it or daub it in market pen... what reference other than the names does it have to the bombing of our city... Did Stevie Wonder read the brief... ?... or did the student watch Dambusters and imagine that bombs looked like that!!!!!

It seems the HCC "Wrecking Crew" have dropped the ball again. FAO, I call Dibb's on a section of that globe for my drawing figure of Australia with my 2oml Graff Pen. Cheers.

It's not HCC, it's being done be The Hull Peoples Memorial, who've raised £100k from the people of Hull to fund it.

Then it might be a good idea to ask the good people of Hull what they would like, a competition between different ideas would be good. I like the idea of including the mosaic. I cannot see any link between that faceted sphere and the blitz!

But this was refused permission due to risk of people climbing on it, so the leaves with the names on are now enclosed within a globe and viewed through holes all round it (at least that's what I believe is happening).

My granddad's name should be included when it's revealed. I may give it a look.

Bigger globe you could walk inside to read the names might be better

I like contemporary art (but not this!) but sometimes it's not the right way of recognising an event. Given the subject of the memorial something more relevant and respectful would surely be more appropriate?
