I was just thinking on LFC's stellar saturday.

We lashed what 20 odd shots from distance aimlessly wide?

Its patently obvious we've no real faith in getting behind a side or we need a side to attack us and play high to make space for us to play in.

The thing that annoys me most is LFC have ZERO threat from set piece.. and i mean ZERO.

Burnley could sit back knowing they could sit off and we'd play in front or they could foul and we'd just give it right back to them to hack clear.

What LFC have been trying out for is a set piece taker and serious threat in the box.

Klavan with respect is worthless in a 81% possession game when he will never score. The lad's record has been 4 goals in 125 games for Augsburg in germany and 9 in his estonian league career. He's got 112 estonian caps and a total of 3 goals.... With respect to him he's no threat to a side from a set piece.

By contrast Matip has 2/3 goals a season consistently in his career with Shalke.. so at least he's got a minor threat to him by vitrue of his height.

Grujic, can.. tall players.. origi... sturrdige...

So WHY were LFc not playing for fouls to get a set piece and put the ball in the danger area rather than individually lashing wold shts with zero chance of scoring.... HMMMMMM...

I'd rather force them to line up on their 18 yard box and play the ball into that space between keeper and goalie to attack then have guys lash the ball into the stand.

Anything would be perferrable to the LFC "we lose to small sides" game plan.

    If you like mate.

Making a thread about a plan B and West Brom i.e. Pulis and then bemoaning your lack of heading ability obviously had **** all to do with wanting it launched into the box for a big lad.

Well the obvious answer is that its not as easy as winning fouls. You need to isolate players to start with, which is hard when they are playing so compact and deep and you also need players that can take people on and beat them causing them to either have to bring them down or let them through, something we don't really have without Mane.

Benteke, or a big man, is not the answer because we've had big men before and we had exactly the same results.

The bigger problem for us is the lack of runners into the box due to having too many players like Lallana, Henderson & Coutinho who aren't really goal minded. The thing that exacerbated this problem yesterday IMO was the fact that Milner constantly had to cut back onto his right foot letting Burnley organise at the back before he sent a cross in meaning they were even less effective than they could've been and also the consistently slow passing from deep by Henderson into our attacking players didn't let us exploit any Burnley players that may have been out of position.

I have been banging on for years about the need for players who can score goals from midfield/out wide and our signings this summer haven't really helped that in any way.

Difference is that's us getting it wrong. Barry bundling the ball into the net is as good as it gets for you.

Wrong for a whole 90 mins?
Why didn't the mighty Klopp change tactics then?
You have sold plan B to Palace because you couldn't use him properly...
