    Football League Cup Second round
    Tuesday, 23 August
    Kick off: 19:45
    ABAX Stadium

Following their PL fixture against Hull, the Swans' next match is against Peterborough in the League Cup.

The Posh, who are managed by a Grant McCann, are currently seventh in League One with 6 pts, having won 2 of their 3 League matches, losing the other.

The Swans have played Peterborough on 44 occasions, winning 14 and losing 16 of those matches, with 14 draws. In fact, the match at the Vetch on 7 May 1966 was the first time that I saw the Swans - it ended in a 1-1 draw.

Whilst the Swans will be favourites to win, it is likely that Manager Francesco Guidolin will ring the changes, but nevertheless I expect the Swans to win 3-1

No too many please i've expended £10 on a ticket for this one! :emoticon-0100-smile ! Anything within 60 miles of me I regard as a home game.

Seriously it will be good to see some youngsters but this is a cup we can do really well in so hope we line up to win it well.

Posh away is a potential banana skin. Lets hope we can get a win as the cups are essential to give all our squad game time. Not all in the same game though!

Didn't the two teams meet in the F.A. Cup around that time? Draw at Posh, who then won replay at The Vetch.
The legendary Derek Dougan played for Posh. He was some player.

If memory serves me correct, he was a guest speaker at an end of season dinner back in heady days of Toshack,et al.
Dougan was a great after dinner speaker. Erudite, funny and didn't resort to using foul language, unlike Emlyn Hughes, who was quite appalling.

I wonder if Minxy is coming out to play on Tuesday ? <laugh> <hug>

We drew away 0-0 on 20 February 1965, lost the replay at home 0-2 three days later.....

This is a game that Emnes should start, He hardly kicked a ball last season, I really wonder some times regarding our coaching staff and selection...<ok>

He's had 3 managers in the past 12 months. Not good enough.

Yes but we need to take it seriously if we are to develop some momentum, and get our new forward line to click, if Emnes is on the way out as some seem to think then we need to bring in the young lad McBurnie.............<ok>

This is the game where we should stick with the same team...They need the practice against lower opposition that they have the chance to beat....if we dont then we will see just how rubbish we really are....Playing the kids wont do us any good at all....

I think your being very unfair to the lad, especially at the end of last season Curt put faith in him at the Palace game where he impressed, as some commentators noted "Marvin Emnes has shown touches of quality to link midfield and attack too with the Dutchman clearly eager to show he should be involved more having been close to a loan move to Bolton earlier in the season". that was just one comment regarding Emnes, I really do not understand what he has to do to get a run out............<ok>

Emnes has always been a bit of an impact sub with us and I can't see him ever starting unless through others being injured. Always done well when called upon though, and nobody can argue with that.

I agree with Dai. Let's get a strong team out and go for a morale boosting win. Putting a load of kids out to get thumped won't help anyone.

No point in starting Emnes as he won't be here probably before the end of the loan window. Baston likely to be out for 3 to 4 weeks so Mcburnie on the bench please and yes a strong team as cup competitions are our only chance of silverware and should be taken seriously.

Team IMO should look something like this

    Nordfelt
Rangel, Van der Hoorn, Amat, Taylor
    Fulton, Ki
    Dyer, Fer, Montero
    McBurnie Llorente (30 mins)

I think we need to go with our strongest team, as Saturday they proved they need the game time together to get to know Llorentes game, plus everyone needs practice crossing the ball.
Why rest players so early in the season - it's stupid.

Play a weakened side this early in the season and risking a higher percentage of a loss is plainly barmy..We need a confidence boost for our first team that lost so badly at home against Hull. Even if a weakened side win it will not do the players that played against hull much good......We need to field the same team to try and get some confidence going imo...

I would expect the following new faces at least to start
Taylor, Van der Hoorn and Dyer I think McBurnie will probably come on as sub rather than start.

    Per the BBC:

Swansea manager Francesco Guidolin, who guided Vicenza to an unexpected Coppa Italia victory in 1997, said: "The cups in the UK are important and I want to respect this attitude.

"We will go to Peterborough with a good team, try to win and continue in the competition."

Neil Taylor returns after an extended break to recover from Euro 2016 and Mike van der Hoorn is in line to make his debut.

Ki Sung-yueng, Jefferson Montero, Angel Rangel and Nathan Dyer could make their first starts of the season.

Personally I think that the fringe players are more than capable of beating this team. Dyer, fulton, McBurnie, Rangel, Van der Hoorn, Nordfelt and fulton have all got pre season to be prepared and will be eager to perform well to push for a starting places

Taylor, Ki and montero need game time. Also to play our only fit and recognised striker who is 32 is a bit risky to say the least. I'd rather him rested and ready for Leicester. The players will get to know him in training.

Bring him on if needed but pointless risking him and potentially leaving us with no one or not 100% against Leicester in the premier league.
