I don't think our appeal in the 4x400m will succeed. There doesn't seem to be any clear video evidence of the incident (which is an amazing coincidence) which Team GB can use to argue against the judges. Still, I'm sure Brazil, who replace us in the final, definitely got there for the correct reasons and not through any bullshit by the Rio judges at all...
GB men have an excellent (over-performing) record, over the decades, in the 4x400m relay. They traditionally out-psyche the US, often 'forcing' them to drop the baton. I've watched this particular men's relay race several times, frame-by-frame, super-slow-mo, etc., and I can't detect any kind of violation. This stinks to the ultimate degree. I hope they lodge the strongest protest possible -- the US women's protest was correctly upheld, but the real question is: why were the Brazilian women, who clearly obstructed the US, not disqualified?
I wouldn't have gone as far as to say that ... until today. My whole family are sports freaks (GB/US dual citizens) but today has made us all feel ANGRIER than we collectively have in a very long time. Thank God for BP medication.
Just watched it again. What I don't get is that if GB got pinged they why in the **** wasn't everyone pinged as everyones feet positions seemed the same?
One of the few Olympics I cannot get with due to time difference and working early ect. One thing that disturbs me a tad though about this years events. I noticed more and more people competing in these games and getting miffed about coming second or what have you and worst of all,ex champions getting the hump about losing out on a gold. Nothing wrong with competitive frustration, but if it's win at all odds is there any wonder those who continue to cheat via drugs continue do so for 'fear' of coming second.
More potential medals still to come today in the 10m diving with Tom Daley, boxing with Nicola Adams, 5000m with Mo Farah plus chances in kayaking and the pentathlon. Potential gold rush!
The only British Olympian I'll be cheering against. Hope he slips on the board and bellyflops, winding him sufficiently that he can't complete his other jumps.
****ing weirdo. There are members of Team GB I don't like, but I still want them to win a medal because I'm not a ****.
Hopefully Daley can win Gold. He does seem to get 10 times more attention and credit than the other divers. Jack Laughers got Gold and Silver but hardly a mention by comparison.
