Would be a really weird feeling to actually have a positive feeling around the club, it's been so long. Just seeing the #hcafc on Twitter would signify so much in my eyes.
Will having Chinese owners see the club have a Great Leap Forward leading to a Cultural Revolution at the club?
Hawken Xiu Li is a massive football fan - she has probably been one of the key drivers behind the deal (other than financing it) It's quoted in a number of articles on her and stems from her time spent studying in the UK. I would think that there's a reasonable chance they'll be at the game.
Know what you mean, although last weekend was as good as it's been for a while watching the lads play against all the odds.
Apparently the Swansea manager doesn't draw up their transfer list, that's what the interview link I posted earlier said. As long as good players are brought in I suppose a decent manager should get the best out of them. I hope not considering the negative impact that had on China. Allam wanted to do his own revolution as he no doubt saw it based around the name change, with zero consideration of anyone but himself.
I feel a little easier about having these Chinese owners the fact that they are Hong Kong based. I have done business with both mainland China and in Hong Kong, and IMO the Hong Kong Chinese are much more reasonable people to deal with than the main land Chinese. The fact that she has also spent a lot of time in the UK and is a football fan is an added advantage.
(Rolls eyes) The tiger's head currently used has been around since the 70s TIP OF THE DAY: don't talk like a ****
Before my time, I was just going on the 1971/72 kit on Historic Kits, who are normally quite accurate...
Accurate up to a point, but details sometimes out. There are still those knuckle draggers who believe we played in white for our first game. The tiger's head on that Burnley programme cover was not used on shirts till 79/80. The tiger's head from the Carter era was still used up to and including the 1974/75 season before the Great Leap Forward to the Europa Sports kit for the 1975/76 season and the return of the stripes.
I really feel confident about these potential new owners particularly the fact that she is a football fan and she's loaded. I imagine she "gets" the whole football thing and has desires to be at the very top of the game. Here's hoping, everything crossed. Will be nice to know we have business people who know about football instead of business men who know **** all about football.
Not certain if this is fact but as far as my memory allows I think the tigers head used on the Burnley programme has been used for far longer (as opposed to being the oldest) than any other version so that is the one we should carry on using. Apart from the tigers head, the 'The Tigers' strapline always looked a bit tacky so for me get Hull City back on the badge and jobs a good 'un.
Correct. Been used on and off for 41 years now (mainly on). The Carter era tigers' head was used (on and off) from 1947 to 1975 = 28 years.
Proper programme that, no messing about, no advertising, only 10p.. doesn't say.. THE TIGERS vs Burnley
Order of priorities : 1. Complete sale of club. 2. Appoint management team. 3. Sign a striker and creative midfield. (The rest depends on managers tactics.) 4. Talk to supporters 5. Reverse the name change nonsense. 6. Sort the attendance issues - not just concessions. 7. I like the badge, it's cool.
