Disallowed doesn't count. Poor cut back is poor play and you could argue a one on one isn't great play either. How many saves let alone world class saves did De Gea have to make?

Well I quite enjoyed that game. Lots of positives from saints but wow - this Man U side looks a bit special. For all our efforts we rarely troubled De Gae but that was down to good defending rather than lack of effort on our part. Most saints players got. 7/10 from me. Most Man U players got a 9/10.

Poor old JWP. First Pierre takes his spot in the team and now he's taking his role as interviewers' favourite too.

Haven't posted on here for ages but here we go:

I can't see us getting very far with the diamond. Its Puel's familiar formation, and you can see why he'd give it a go, I'm not sure it'll work in the PL. Puels no idiot, and I think we will end up reverting back to the 4-2-3-1. It's really hard for a manager who's never managed in England to go to OT straight away, we played them too early and I wasn't expecting anything from this game. He'll learn, we're already playing better, there's positives.

Cedric was much better today, but that's in contrast to an awful performance against Watford. Clasie (penalty aside) played well, but really needs to play in a DM 2, it's quite obvious just by looking at him that he won't be able to top a diamond. Clasie and Romeu would be a solid pairing. Redmond and Long were fairly poor but the service from Tadic wasn't top class, but I expect them to gel as time goes on. Grazi and Tadic were almost always on the same page, I expect that relationship with Redmond to come. We desperately need another attacker though, I've not given up on Jay yet, but we need someone to have the "Mane impact".

There's by no means anything to panic about just yet, we're still in the transfer window, I fully believe we're still active in the transfer window, and first half on Saturday aside we've played like a top half of the table team. We need to be realistic this season and accept we're in a fight with some very, very good teams for those European places. Top 8 would be fantastic, but I think we'll end up 9th or 10th.

Bring in an attacking midfielder and/or a winger, and revert back to 4-2-3-1 and we'll be in for a good season, I genuinely believe that. We have a lot to look forward to with Europa too.

Sorry for the essay, but I've been lurking again for a while and wanted to get back posting.

Good post mate. Agree on the whole, though I'm not quite so against the diamond just yet.

We created an offside goal, which is not a goal. Had he been onside we would have created nothing.

Jesus I'm not even that much of a neg-head but surely you can see the desperation when you use a disallowed goal to prove we created 'chances'.

I'm not saying were crap, I'm not saying puel is crap. I'm not saying we need to sack the board and buy a new team. I'm just saying we didn't create chances, it's ok to say that.

I give up. We created some chances. You completely ignored my point about the offside goal, which is just being awkward mate. For us to get to there it means we created the chance - I didn't say it was a goal.

Some of you just wallow in negativity, so I'll leave you to it. Enjoy.

Long has pace too but it wasn't so apparent tonight. With Redmond moving into a more attacking role, we have no replacement for Mane. Whether we need one depends largely on how Claude wants us to play. Personally I think there is always a demand for aMane type player but before we get too nostalgic, remember Mane went AWOL for a good part of last season. His end of season run in was a bonus rather than a feature of our season.

Remember we just played against one of the shrewdest, most experienced and best managers in the world too.
