Yes I know this. But my original post said 'we didn't trouble them'. I don't know if we were watching the same match but I didn't think we really looked like scoring.
Yeah, he does have a tendency to do that and got caught doing it today. As I said, they need to start calling him Soares again - it's a different player all of a sudden I wouldn't sell him, there's a good player in there - he just needs to learn a few defensive tricks.
So you're dropping Pierre? Cos he ain't a 10. If you're dropping Pierre, well....you're dropping one of our two best players.
Never quite get the obsession with formations, we lost because of sloppy pieces of defending and that happens if you play 433, or 7,2,1, a formation does not eliminate player mistakes
Negatives: 1) We lost a game of football 2-0. 2) The system doesn't really seem to suit the players we currently have going forwards. E.g. we've had just 7 shots on target out of 37 total shots in the two games so far (less than 19% on target). We have only one natural 'finisher' in the squad (Austin), and the diamond does not suit his style of play. Long, is a decent striker for rotation at a club like ourselves aiming to stay in Europe, but should not be your number one guy. Redmond, is NOT a striker, he's an experiment. I know a few Birmingham fans and one Norwich fan, and none of them have praised his finishing. Rodriguez, sadly still has to prove how much of the player from 2013-14 still exists. Positives: 1) The game was away to Man Utd and we fully expected it to be a tough game. 2) In terms of how we played from end to end it was actually very good apart from our last pass and/or shots in the final third. We have had 37 shots in two games, so we're creating some shooting opportunities. 3) New signings will come. Les/Claude can't have completely missed what we saw. Let's just hope they are good enough at finishing. If we're not signing a 'striker', we certainly need a midfielder or two who know were the net is. Ziyech and Boufal please!!
In the end it was. Lots of good play from us but little cutting edge in the final 3rd.still plenty of reasons to be optimistic tho
We don't have the players to suit the diamond formation. Time to use a formation that suits the players rather than your preference Puel.
So we didn't create that then? Come on Ashby. People are saying we didn't create anything. We did. Are you saying that the wind blew that ball in and so it wasn't a created chance?
I have no problem losing 2-0 at old Trafford but they seemed to do it at a canter, rarely breaking a sweat. Once Utd had there defence organised we looked very short of ideas and Utd looked so comfortable they could have been playing a friendly. Some lovely passing in midfield and good possession but we weren't great.
Say it as many times as you wish but "must" win after two games is utter bollox. Sure hope we do tho!
