Claridge really doesn't like what we're doing. He simply doesn't trust our owners and thinks we'll be in administration as a result. His words were coded, but these were basically his thoughts. Opinion is free and Claridge is as good a commentator for the Football League around, IMHO. That said he doesn't like what's going on at the King Power Stadium. Could he have the last laugh?
Is going into 'administration' the same as going 'tits up at the bookies for a million quid' Oi Claridge you want to have a LONG good look in the mirror mate. Sorry about the pun(dit)
A minute ago they we're talking about Championship dream team strikers. Claridge said Shane Long and someone piped up with 'He's been linked with Leicester today'. Claridge just said, 'oh...' and hasn't said anything since. He just doesn't like Leicester.
There is something underlying his comments about leicester...not sure what it is, but its something personal, but the other people in the studio pulled his leg about it. his choices and opinions are in the curtis davies bracket...which ever team he tips to do well...bet the opposite...
I don't think it's that Claridge doesn't like Leicester, he played for us at a time when we won promotion through good management and team spirit. He thinks we are now using foreign money to try and buy this league and he thinks that is wrong. I can understand why people are worried about a Championship club spending £12m on two players, especially when looking at former case studies (Portsmouth etc), but we're in a different situation. But I am beginning to worry now if we don't get promoted this season! Will the owners really take on the full costs of failure? But I'm not being negative, I think we will do it - but it's something to think about.
don't agree ,these owners are the real deal....claridge should tell it to chelsea ,man. c etc....his money management is well documented...i trust top a bit more thanks....
Hes just waiting until it does fall apart, even if its 20 years down the line, he can still say "i told you so"
I think he's entitled to his opinion of course. Very valid some of them. WE COULD GO BUST..... Anybody else think that Dave Jones came across a very candid and therefore well tonight. I thought he was good anyway.
20 years! We will have won the prem 5 times, fa cup 6, league cup 5 and been in the champions league 15 years in a row I will take that
There's always some people who say 'When the owners get bored, they will go leaving you in the lurch facing admin!' They were saying that to Chelsea when RA first took over and started to splash the cash, but how many years as he been there now? still splashing the cash! All the indications from our owners are that they see this as a long term project otherwise they would not be making substantial investment in off field activities such as stadium & training ground enhancements. It's quite clear there are a lot of people outside of Leicester who are jealous of our new found wealth and hoping we fail big time but I think they will be waiting a very long time.
He just wants attention, when we are top of the league with record breaking points by easter he will be on a bike home I cant wait to see us in the champions league, imagine how well we will do! The owner and his son will make LC a force in football. What will claridge say when we expand the stadium?
What I would say is that Claridge has criticised Leicester on more than one occassion prior to this season. I find it all a little embarrassing, with his co-presenters even ridiculing him now. I think he is a very odd fellow. I can remember speaking to Walshie and Izzet one time in the Kings pub and they said he was quite a strange guy. He has had various medical problems, some of which including a thyroid issue which relates to anxiety and depression in some cases. On top of this I think he may have had psychosomatic problems, suggesting things like he couldn't play too long in the sun without any medical support and there were also rumours relating to psychological struggles through a condition known as trichotillomania (on a serious note, this may explain his unusual hair). To try and adhere to some sort of political correctness, I think he can be 'erratic' and as a result irrational and very subjective with his opinions. On top of this, I think he is very stubborn, so even in the cold light of day; he will stand by some ludicrous comments. I don't think we should take his comments (which are now bordering on insulting and unprofessional) personally (although, clearly he does). You have to remember that a) The majority of football fans feel his contribution on talksport and the BBC is tosh b) We are not the first club to be on the end of his unusual critiques. Just last season for example, he claimed in the New Year that QPR were 'nothing special', relied heavily on two players and never convincingly beat any team.
I think it's time we just faced facts.....Claridge is a tit. He is the worst sort of pundit; one who jumps from bandwagon to bandwagon. I remember when we were having our good early year run and got as high as 7th, Claridge was basically saying that we were going to get promoted and Sven was doing a brilliant job. Three weeks later following a poor run, he said we were going to be mid-table and we'd 'blown it'. You watch, if we're top after 3 or 4 games, he'll start prophisising that we're 'certs' for the title And as earlier posts allude to, he isn't the best at tipping 'certs' bless him; a tip from him is about as valued as a promise from Nick Clegg.
we only have to listen to him for 1 season then its gary who will be talking about us better striker? lineaker or claridge better pundit?
Some interesting info on Claridge there...although I kind of agree with his comments about QPR...every time I saw them on TV, they won but the other side was much better!
Well hopefully this will quell his fears over the spending: StringerSport Ian Stringer #lcfc chairman statement: I will fight for the Leicester City fans. I promise that I will never let Leicester City, or our supporters down 43 minutes ago
Followed by "There is something special ahead for us, I can feel this. There is hard work to follow, but there is glory to be realised."
