As usual you put it better than me! Opinions are one thing (everyone is entitled to at least one). Match reports should represent the actual events witnessed IMVHO. Even Mikes match reports were worth a read because he had seen the game and was passing on details of what he thought and made honest assessments as a result. I respect wjs ability to watch the game as he did this week and produce a good critique of each player, I know I couldn't do it. I watch the game and only spot someone being outstanding or ****e maybe because I don't go to a game wanting to be a reporter or scout, I tend to look at how the whole team is set up and the playing style. So I will point out how ****e we are in defending from the front, how poor we are with the ball (too slow and predictable) and how there is a general lack of fitness (out of gas by 60 minutes), and we are still crap at corners. Gary Monk will have to start taking more responsibility if these things are not addressed very soon.
Totally agree Ristac. Apart from it isn't a match review, it's his usual fawning over the players he likes (ignoring the hypocrisy of his constant snipes at other & coaches having favourites), you cannot judge of radio commentary. How many times for example when Leeds are on sky and the anti Leeds biased don goodman is the 'expert' have we disagreed with his summing up of a match or incident? How do you judge penalty incidents if you've not seen it. At least he is now honest about on what he judges it.
To be fair to LL his match reports are very consistent and he doesn't even have to listen to the match Any player whose name ends in a vowel had a great game and all the others were crap
If that's what he does, then he has been amazingly accurate in the past from what I've read when I've been the games.well done him for his hard work compiling all those reports and coming up with better reports than some that went games.
Having reread your OP you were the one who suggested only Chesh. WJ or I could write match reports. Hope this cap fits.......
Agree about Hernandez. Was a lot better at corners in the last match. A lot! Differing views. Am I too positive, or are you too negative? Midfield defending is still an issue. I think we have the right players - they just need to buck up their ideas & play to the system. I'm quite sure our coaches are not advocates of the 'headless chicken' methodology, which we see in large patches so often (and not just under this manager, it has to be said).
As it would appear only opinions of those at the games are meaningful. The rest of us plebs must resort to throwing darts about and hoping the odd one sticks
Can't answer the positive /negative question. But given your concerns I don't know how you can be as positive as you sound. I agree with you and am totally negative about our prospects as a result (because as you say these has been the same since over numerous watermelons tenures). Looking back I think we went soft under BMcD and it hasn't been addressed. It really winds me up because I equate not tackling with a lack of effort. The team looks idle and / or unfit. We cant win without scoring and we cant score if we don't have the ball. We seem to play the percentages (the opposition are more likely to miss than score).
Darts........ Something else paddies cant play. Now stfu........ wj and I are doing a bit of bonding.... I like the fella and was a bit pissed off that we let things get OTT. It was all his fault (joking) .
Not our fault there was no gps back then to direct missiles from 10km away.. Had to make do with odd gallon of petrol
