As written "Says the man who gave us prisoners running around on giant hamster wheels to produce electricity" can have only one meaning, and that is not the one you are claiming.

So what is the meaning that he was stating? I have shown how it is not the truth. I never said that and he knows it. Plenty of people say "us prisoners" and are referring to themselves as prisoners. You are totally wrong.

hahahaha what an epic meltdown from fat Pete.

A man who derides seemingly everyone for portraying 'internet wealth' and yet has spent half the thread harping on about his 2 kitchens, home office, rental income, his ****ty garage accountancy business et al.

He thinks he's somehow superior and patently can't accept that there's ****ing plenty who've achieved more than him. Get over it you whining, boring, pedantic, fat, old ****.

My background is electrical engineering, that is what I served an apprenticeship in and went on to get a degree in.
However, I now have a senior managers role in a large manufacturing company....is this sufficient?

Kustard was hoping to look down on you. He's going to be disappointed.

I am not wrong. There would have had to have been a comma after prisoners and some further words after electricity for it to have the meaning that you claimed. Whether you actually said it is irrelevant.

Don't really have an axe to grind with Custard, I have defended some of his comments from time to time. I don't agree with his views, but I tend to have a "live and let live" attitude for most things.
The other idiot does grind my gears. He wouldn't even get a job as a analyst in the finance department, where I work, as he does not have the necessary qualifications, but he's on here giving it the "Billy Big Bollocks" about how clever he thinks he is and how stupid the rest of us are. That's why I wouldn't let it go today, childish I know, but it did give me some satisfaction.

Not wishing to uneccessarily piss on your bonfire, custard, but that's according to Moody's the rating agency.

That's the same Moody's who were rating all the Mtge backed bonds at AAA just before it all went tits up!

Retail sales ARE up though. Before anyone gets too excited, it mainly down to increased tourist buying. And that's a direct result of the rapidly dying pound!

This time it WILL affect the pound in your pocket!...

Why are so many "experts" saying the pound has been over valued for some time and being lower is better long term?

It's bollocks, IMO. Ok €1.50-1.60 is probably overvalued. But anything below €1.25 is oversold. As for the dollar $1.50 minimum is about where it should be.

As for the advantages and disadvantages, yes there are some advantages to a weaker currency, if you're a major exporter - like China, who deliberately keep their currency artificially low. But for the UK, a net importer, it's not so great.

Yes, it makes your foreign earnings worth more in Sterling terms, which is why we've seen the stocks of those companies who,are major foreign currency earners rise.

How do you for example get $1.50 and say €1.30?

Is just perception of what's fair value. There was a time in the mid '80's when I was still trading that we got to £1-$1 a huge gimme! As was the $2-£1 of 7- 8 yrs ago. Both were completely unsustainable. It was just a matter of taking a position and waiting for the inevitable.

You have to remember that under Bretton Woods, only 40 odd years ago, the rate was fixed at $2.40!...
