All quiet on the transfer front isn't it. I think we maybe done with signings ATM I do hope we can get good CB in before the end of the transfer window though
I think we all hope we sign another CB swan_and _only , but having 3 pretty goods ones as we are IMO , makes it possible to sign the right one in the next week or so but if we can't we will manage if we don't . Gotta be the right guy for the right money
I see Liverpool have turned down £30 million for Benteke....... We sold Ayew for £20 million. Who is insane here - Liverpool for turning it down, Palace for offering that much for him, or us for accepting 20 for Ayew ? I'd definitely go for Bony before Benteke.
Liverpool also sold Jordan Ibe for £15m and Palace just sold Bolasie for £25-£28m. As for Bony, I'd bring him back in a heartbeat.

That's how I see it, I know he's a reporter, but the article is a better reflection on what's likely to come. Those pundits are only seeing who we've sold and frankly they have ignored who we have brought in.
I said all along 20m for Ayew is a mugging - ok we made a handsome profit - but his market value should have been far higher when comparing with other players. Going with 3 recognized centre backs is a huge gamble - so expecting (hoping) the club foresee this and bring in a quality replacement for Ash.
But it's likely that £20m+ was his release clause, if he wanted to stay it's probable that a new deal would have been signed with a far higher clause. We took a gamble with him and without the aid of a crystal ball last year we couldn't have known how successful he was going to be. Looking at the full picture I think we did well with him.
At least he's got an excuse this time for going missing for the next 4 months Swansea curse has struck already.
Tom Carroll anyone? I'd be happy seeing him back here a potential Britton replacement. Thing is how much will Levy want for him. 20M most probably. http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/08/18/betting-update-sunderland-in-the-running-for-spurs-tom-carroll/

That's a fair point, and would explain why we feel we didn't achieve what he should be worth in the current market.
