They're not similar in terms of the skills required to execute the role effectively at all IMO. How many players nowadays play both positions and do it very well? I'm struggling to think of any immediately off the top of my head. I think all this highlights the fact that our squad is threadbare to say the least!!
Mascherano converted to a CB because he's good on the ball and it works really well at Barca. Not sure how much CM he plays anymore, probably has more chance with the National team. Rodwell has started the season well with an assist so I'm hopeful Moyes can get the best out of him!!
Mascherano is great at both positions despite his (lack of) height. Great reader of the game, great tackler, great passer, dirty sly little bastard. Perfect dm and is awesome at centre half! As for Rodwell. He did OK in a firestorm at city. Protected the defence well I thought but there was zero composure when playing forward by any of them. Cattermole and Kirchhoff would've made a huge difference to that game

This is developing into a real farce/shambles just ask him to buy out his contract and then pay him it when he gets here!!!!
