Apologies for posting this slightly late, but it is worth highlighting a small but great gesture of Solidarity by the club.

The background to the event is the time of the BREXIT results, when there was a racist graffiti attack on the Polish Social and Cultural Association (POSK) in Kings Road, Hammersmith. I am sure that quite a few R's have seen or been to POSK. I attach a link to the racist attack:

QPR reacted to the incident and invited the staff POSK to the club, as well as to the opening home match against Leeds. See link below following the Leeds match:

It is worth highlighting that there are three sizable football clubs in the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, but I am only aware that one club made such a gesture following the racist attack.

    Well done to QPR!!!!

    It is a good question.

My logic was that the topic was "off football".
But you are correct, it is related directly to "QPR".

I saw that article at the time QPRski and thought of you. What a great gesture by the club to reach out to the local Polish community in West London. Makes you proud to support such a great club.

It was a great gesture which was extremely sensitive in nature.

I don't want to go into politics, but were some unpleasant "events" in the UK following the BREXIT vote. This incident with the graffiti on POSK was quite significant as it did not directly target the current Polish EU financial immigrants, but a very established Polish institution, painstakingly developed by Polish refugees in the UK since WW2. This individual act of "hate crime" was very loud and significant to the Polish worldwide community.

I was very surprised, and extremely proud, that QPR as a club were even aware of the event, as well as its significance, and reacted in a very warm and neighbourly manner.

If one were to be cynical, you could say it was a "PR job", but it clearly was not the case. It was done in a very low key and sensitive manner stating a message of Solidarity with the local diverse community. I also believe that the club is performing many community actions. It is such simple and genuine actions of "walking the talk" that show that the club do genuinely care about the community.

Well done QPR!!! I am proud to support you.

Tramore- many thanks. I must stop posting as I add too much corrective work for the mods.

As for your question, yes, I really believe that QPR as a club are much more aligned to fans and the local community.
This was a simple but great gesture that for me was totally unexpected.
I think we may have our R's back!!!!

Many thanks for the info on POSK Ski. I saw the Club did this some time ago, but did not know this background history on POSK
Very good to hear the Club is doing this.

The Club initially received the POSK employees during the close season.

They again followed it up with an invitation to the first home game, ie Leeds.

I get really saddened by racist attacks of any nature, and it is refreshing that the club has stepped in to help and make a statement that this kind of thing is unacceptable.
We have quite a few workers from around Europe where I work and they are all lovely people and the hardest workers I've got. I am about to employ another Polish lad next week who has been with us as a temp, he works his socks off to provide for his wife and young family back in Poland. If only the mindless morons that carry out these attacks would only realise how much migrant workers contribute to both our society and economy.

It is a mindless minority, but it is important to show that one does not accept racism.

QPR made a strong "statement" on this issue. We can only congratulate them.
