    I'll get my boots.

    :)

Or move Aarons to LM and Arma up front.

We need to lay a marker down for this match. Time to put a team to the sword and for gods sake, don't put Anita on the wing!!

Agreed. I want to see Shelvey in the 10, trying to make things happen. He wants to move the ball, with Ritchie and Aarons wanting to receive it, and Gayle running channels, think it's the best option to try right now. I'd continue with Diame back and have Mo alongside Hayden for the experience.

Yup! I'd also drop Sels and put Darlow back in. He's done nothing to merit not being in the team and I don't trust Sels.

    Hahaha!!

My prediction - I think we'll be fortunate to draw, we're not good under pressure and we won't play the best formation again tonight.

I read an article about going 3 at the back - I'd be astonished if we move from 4-2-3-1 all season, but whilst 3-4-3 is interesting, adding uncertainty isn't going to help.

I just want to see positivity today. I think more of a 4-3-3 mentality is worth a shot, if we decide to change.

By the way, how are people keeping up to speed? Anyone know of a good stream for the Championship, or is BBC Radio Newcastle still the best option?

There needs to be more effort from the players first. Do that and we can win. I'd be keen to see Rivière up top with the likes of Gayle and Ritchie buzzing around him.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I'd much prefer Mitro up top but for now Riv will do

<yikes> I'm not sure he is even good enough for League 2 football. In fact I'm not convinced he is a footballer.

<laugh> Riv will be our goal machine. He will get the number 9 shirt once he hits 30 goals this season

I thought this had all come out in the wash, that we'd got our players mixed up and Monaco couldn't effing-well believe it when we came asking with £6m, and that we were actually after someone else? Martial or something?

He's not a footballer at all. At all. As has been said, we've brought in a lot of players but still have no options - true, Diame not fit doesn't help, but our options all seem to be at the back. Player for player, we've got:

    GK - Sels/Darlow/Elliot
    RB - Janmaat/Mbabu
    LB - Gamez/Haidara/Dummett
    Defensive CB - Lascelles/Hanley
    Ball playing CB - Mbemba/Clark(?)
    DM - Hayden/Colback
    CM - Diame/Anita
    AM - Shelvey
    Wings - Ritchie/Aarons
    CF - Gayle/Mitrovic/Perez/Armstrong

For sale/Unwanted; Tiote, Krul, Sissoko, Gouffran, Riviere, Saivet, De Jong

For me, the priority is someone who can make you tick if Shelvey cannot deliver soon; he'd still need backup at the very least. We're also shy at left back, clearly. Wings are still a first teamer light. I think the players we're linked with are the right ones - Galloway solves LB, Knockaert fixes the wing issue. But the clear issue is we don't really have a team yet. The identity isn't there, the understanding isn't there. And I don't understand why - Huddersfield brought in 7 for the first team and a new manager, yet seemed to know what was expected.

I'm not being serious about Riv, except for the fact I think he should start tonight.

If De Jong is fit I'd play him. At least he looks like a footballer who can link up play and pick a pass. He can't do creative things any slower than Jonjo Shelvey. Have these ****ers ever played 5 a side. They need to learn who to pull people out of position in tight spaces by moving the ball quickly.
