Morning all, our fete had a spectacular fireworks display, but the band was not to my liking.
Still thousands had turned up to see them, so who am I to judge? If some of the girls in that video had been on stage it could have changed my opinion.
Security was very tight, with some very large special forces, heavily armed quite visible. No chance of driving anything into the village as the roads were blocked off with tractors. Of course there was no trouble, but this form of protection is required at all large gatherings throughout the world as things stand.
Walked back to the field where the cars were parked and daughter found she had lost her car and house keys. I have a house key, so Mme lent her her car and they went home, but today the search begins to try and find the keys. They could be anywhere along the half mile road, although someone could have found them and put them into the Marie. Never a dull moment in these backwaters!

That was his attitude - was it you? What pissed me off more than 'he decided what we watched' was lights out at ten attitude - come ten o'clock, he'd loudly announce that he wanted to go sleep, then switch the TV off and lie back clutching the remote to his chest. When he did that for the tennis gold medal match, we got the nurses to prise it from his grasp. When he woke up the next morning, I casually switched the TV on - the look on his face was priceless! <laugh>

    'machin'
    'bidule'
    'truc'
    etc...

Daughter went to see if her keys had been handed in at our Marie. She had a choice of four bunches and thankfully one was hers. They also had seven mobile phones, several pairs of glasses and some purses and wallets with money in them. What a nice honest bunch we all are. :emoticon-0100-smile

Wish I could say the same about some builders round here - we had some to do an extension and they were terrible - loads of problems and they finally said they had ceased trading and were going into liquidation. Luckily we only paid for goods as they were delivered and workmen at the end of each week. We then found they started trading again the next day in another area close by under a slightly different name. Turns out they had not paid most of their sub-contractors - plumbers, electricians etc and also we know of at least three sets of people out of pocket to the tune of in excess of £10,000. One chap I spoke to had been out in Germany when they commenced for him in January and they said he needed some sewage treatment plant - they claimed to have ordered it and charged him £8,500 but it turns out they never did. Trading standards are now trying to prosecute for a variety of offences including fraud. I had to submit a 6 page witness statement. Miserable lot. I had to find an assortment of local workmen to do the unfinished work they left behind. Almost down to the end now - major work still to be done is a new soakaway and drainpipes.

One of my part time neighbours who lives some of the year in Sutton Coldfield, has a similar tale from there. Having gone through the legal process with trading standards he has been told he would win a case if taken to court, but will not see any of the £3,500 he has been conned out of as the company has ceased to trade and there was no money in the accounts. To start with he was determined to see them face justice, but gave up when he found that he would lose even more money through his costs. Something needs to be done to tighten up on closing companies down in name only, but as we saw with Baz it is far too simple to be bust, then twelve months later start on the same road again.

I could go to the small claims court if I could be bothered - at least to see them have to go into liquidation - but to be honest it is up to those who lost real money to do that. I would like to see them done for fraud. One thing they did was to agree to supply a bespoke oak framed window to one client for £1,400 but then sourced one on line for £40 and painted it!! I do not know what powers Trading Standards have but they seem to be leading the prosecution

No artificial limbs? Talking of limbs, just above my right knee has a bruise where the ball hit it on Sunday.

Morning all from a cloudy, warm Jersey. We had some rain overnight.
Have a good day, whether that involves work, relaxation or recovery.

I'm sorry and everything but I prefer the posts of this softball player...

Morning all.... off to the vineyard tomorrow morning body and Ryan Air willing

( shameful confession... I did the thing you must NEVER do with RYANAIR.... and with your wifeys.... I dont know why but for some reason I booked Mme's ticket in her maiden name...and then even worse.. checked in last night without noticing.. and once you have checked in you cant change it :emoticon-0111-blush:eek:<doh>:headbang:<yikes>... and of course you cant phone Ryanair after 19.00 ...eventually 'spoke' to some robot with a Eastern European writing style....apparently we have to take our marriage cert to the airport with us....mad panic ensues... eventually Mme finds it....... Yorkie is not in the good books at the moment.... there is 'A Kind of Hush' around this morning....)

I am hoping the bush telegraph :emoticon-0139-bow: will click into operation on Saturday.... whereby Watford supporters relay updates through France.. to nearby messaging station... ;)

Just tried to log in to the watford website having not been able to on Saturday. It recognises my email address and username, but not my passsword. So I click on forgotten my password and it gives me a one day login. Go to change my password and put in a new one, but it asks me for the old one, which it didn't accept, to validate the change. So as it won't accept the old one, does anybody have any idea how I can get access to the site. has anybody else had the same problem?
