Not sure why but have a feeling we are going to get battered, like Arsenal at the Emirates a few years ago
These are the games that make heroes! Away to Man United, Friday night fixture, underdogs, this is what it's all about for me. Ibrahimovic on fire, Mourinho's first home game in the Premier League as United manager, the world's most expensive player Paul Pogba is available for selection. I would be really surprised if we didn't win by 2 or even 3 goals! 4-1 Saints. VVD, two for Davis and one for Long. Ibrahimovic to score a late consolation.
I don't want Long left on the bench. He scares the willies out of defenders and makes them do daft things to keep him covered. Odd, I thought our bench against Watford: Clasie, Fonte, Rodriguez, Austin, McCarthy, Højbjerg, Pied was one of the strongest I've seen us put up for a while. Vin
As do we. Remember how many goals Shane has generated out of nothing at all. A mispaced backpass, a dawdling defender or a dithering keeper is all he needs to conjure up a miracle goal. We also have Charlie who didn't do too badly in terms of changing the last game at OT. It's easy to dismiss the talent we have. Our team may not have may not cost £500M but we certainly have players who really can make things happen. Vin
Same team as the weekend bar Hojgberg in for JWP for me. Interested to see how Puel sets up for this one, we've been pretty good away to top teams in the last couple years. Don't see anything over than a defeat though. United have improved massively and we haven't as of yet. Need a 10/10 from Virgil for a chance of anything imo. 3-0 United. Looking forward to seeing my first taste of us under Puel though.
The money's a great deal less pessimistic than you lot. Betfair has us with a 33% chance of coming away with a draw or a win. Reading this thread many of you are acting like it's a 1% chance. Vin
I just think we are due a loss up there and we're playing away to one of the best teams in the league who have a bit of momentum while we're still waiting on a couple of signings trying to bed in a new formation. Of course we could win, I just don't think it's very likely.
As a United supporter I have to say we were nothing special on Sunday, didn't see all of you game (only highlights) but see no reason why you should be looking at anything less than a draw with the possibility (as in any game) of a win.
our new formation made us look a lot more open and vulnerable to the counter. Watford didn't create any serious chances after their goal, but it felt like that was down to their poor play at key moments rather than saints being solid and organised. There is an apprehension that if you approach a game away from home in the same manner, then you could get picked off.
