Excellent work and let's hope we can return to winning ways, though I expect a tough game and they have 2 good strikers and of course him of the bandage fame. I'd be very surprised if this one finishes 0-0 and hope to see a lot more efforts on target for us.

If anything happens to Jerome, we're shafted - and will quite possibly panic-buy/loan a replacement. Oh to get transfer dealing sorted nice and early rather than waiting until the last minute, 4,5,6 games in (that's circa 10% of the way through the season!) Then you've still got to bed the newbies in, tweak formations to accommodate newly arrived strengths / weaknesses and by then it's nearly xmas!

I know it's well documented that these things take time, agents holding fire for the best deal for them, (not their client, necessarily ) negotiations dragging on etc, but if the FA had a modicum of sense, they'd open and close this window earlier so that it shuts the day before the respective leagues kick off. All teams would know their squad by now and we wouldn't have to watch that twat in the yellow tie any more
I have been an avid reader of this Forum for several seasons but never posted. So why post now? Well I was scrolling through the Match Day thread as I always do and to my complete surprise saw a photo of myself! In the old black and white photo of Joe Royle holding the Barry Butler trophy is a proud little boy on the left hand side with his arms folded. And that my friends is me! I was a ball boy for that game having had my name drawn out of a hat at school. I was the only NCFC supporter at school so you can imagine my delight at being a ball boy. Unfortunately we lost that match to Leicester City and were relegated but I loved the day nevertheless. I have no photos of that day and was gobsmacked when I saw this one. KIO - thank you for posting this. Can you point me to where you sourced it as I'd love to get a copy. I am NCFC through and through. I've been through the highs and lows. I get to as many games as I can and bring my 2 children who are similar in age to me in that photo. I was there on Saturday and I'll be there tonight. Maybe I'll post on here from time to time - I do feel like I know you all! We have our different opinions but we all love our club and that's what matters. Thanks for the memory KIO - really made my day.
Couple of points: 1. Without wishing to win this week's stating the obvious award I feel we must put in a performance and get a result tonight. these are the bread and butter games we need to be getting three points from if we are to make a determined push towards promotion. Regardless of Saturday's rather poor effort we should have comfortably enough to roll Bristol over. 2. How is it we seem to have so many injuries already? i seem to recall us having a lot at the start of the past two seasons.as well. If players get knocks then fair enough but the number of muscular injuries we seem to have does make me question whtethr it is a lack of conditioning or warming up correctly? Surely our lads should be at their physical peak as we start the season?

Hi Essex and welcome to the forum, I'm glad I made your day If you Google 'Joe Royle Barry Butler' it's the first image on the page. I remembered that Joe won player of the season in '81 after joining us from Bristol City so that's exactly how I found it. The image is taken from the EDP website
Although we've won all 3 games so far, we haven't played particularly well in them, I'd take a point right now, but I reckon we could snatch the 3 points with the likes of Abraham on fire
We've played like Barca in one and like Ipswich in the other. If we play like we did in our first game there isn't a team in this division who can live with us IMO but there on in lies the problem, our lack of consistancy
