Yeah agree mate, Hugo and Kane are supposedly on around £80k-£90k a week, I'd say Eriksen more than deserves that. He won the Spurs POTS here in his first year and has been a focal point in us being a top 5 side in the Prem over the past few seasons. Add to the fact that according to Transfermarkt, in 99 Premier League games, he's contributed 49 goals (23 scored, 26 assisted) and lets not forget it was he who took us to Wembley a couple seasons back, he's without a doubt one of the best players we've had at the club in recent memory. Yes he can go in and out of games which can be frustrating, just like the Everton one but he's still far too crucial to even allow the thought of selling him cross our minds in my opinion.

There's a whole bunch of full back news today...

Firstly the "in" pile, where we've been linked with Fulham's 16-year old left back Ryan Sessegnon, who made his debut in the League Cup last week.
Meanwhile, in the "out" pile we have Sunderland, Hull and Derby all looking to sign Yedlin.

A shame about Yedlin, he seems to have done well at the back end of last season for Sunderland and looked OK in pre-season, just somewhat the product of bad timing what with Walker and Tripps plus KWP coming through. A permanent deal to Sunderland would suit him best I reckon, different manager but knows the club well so shouldn't take long in re-adjusting there.

As for this Sessegnon lad, at 16 he's got plenty of time on his side so I could understand getting him in as a long term option to replace Danny down the line though I'd like to think if we do go for him, any deal would include him staying at Fulham at least until the end of the season, ideally for next season too.

It is strange that we keep getting linked with left backs: last season it was Ben Chilwell and Rico Henry, now it's Ryan Sessegnon - yet, unless the second coming of Paolo Maldini is available, we look set at left back.

Nkoudou is still in London, waiting for something to happen.

We're supposedly haggling with Espanyol over Pau Lopez's fee: we offered £2m, they want at least double that.

Finally we're allegedly looking at Sporting's midfielder Adrien Silva and are lining up a £17m bid, which if anything actually happens (we are Spurs after all...) would be a good signing as he appears to be quite similar in style of play to Dembele, as he sits in the midfield two and has similar strength to retain the ball under pressure from opponents, plus has a good eye for a pass.

I think it's future-proofing. We've got decent quality in various positions at youth level, but I don't think that we do at left-back.

Looking at our squad on the weekend, I still feel that we need to do some business.
We don't have adequate back-up/competition for Dembele and we've got some players that appear to be out in the cold.
If we rate Pau Lopez, then putting up a few million for him doesn't seem like a big ask, does it? Get it done.

It wouldn't surprise me if Lloris' injury has made us think twice about Lopez: last week the likely chain of events would be Lopez arriving before Vorm moved on, with Lopez getting some low priority matches (i.e. domestic cup matches) to settle in. But with Lloris getting injured on Saturday now we have a dilemma, as Vorm is settled so would be a better choice to fill in for a while instead of someone we signed while the season was already under way and they hadn't settled at all.

But now we have the same situation, for however long Lloris is out injured.
Lopez can still come in and play domestic cup matches and not start in the league or Champions League.
If it's only a short-term knock, then we can still move Vorm on or even keep him and have both compete for starts.

I generally prefer having an older, more established and probably slightly over-the-hill 3rd choice keeper.
That would still be an option if we sign Lopez and keep Vorm, as long as we let the youngster go out on loan.
Getting used to playing in England by having a full season at a lower level might be better for him, anyway.
It would mean signing two keepers before the window closes though, so I doubt it will happen.

You must be genuinely "in the know", because your thoughts are uncannily accurate to the current situation.

Is the premise that any vaguely decent GK can be match-sharp purely thru
nothing more than playing in practice sessions ??

I do not believe so, as IMHO a GK gets to learn the strengths/weaknesses of
the specific back fours in front of them by playing regular competitive games.
We shall see if this is so by how Vorm does for a while.

Just using some common sense - so if that's more accurate than anything on Give Me Sport, that sums up that clickbait factory.

    Joe Hart anyone?

I spend long enough telling my brother who's a City fan that Hart looks like a bit of a prick and isn't as good as he thinks he is.

However...he isn't shy and I really want a commanding keeper for us.

Got a question specifically for SC.
When was the last time we had a home grown (ie Spurs junior) as our 1st team keeper.
Probably too long ago and why can't we promote youngsters like Mcgee or Glover to get the feel of the main squad.
Or are as a club incapable of producing a decent young keeper.

Personally think he's half as good as Hugo and would probably cost upwards of £20m.

Whenever I've seen McGee play, albeit brief, he's looked steady and solid and I see no reason as to why he can't deputise as the back up for Vorm while Hugo is out, he's been involved in the first team for a while and played the full 90 in last season's pre-season win against AC Milan, keeping a clean sheet. He got minutes against Atleti (or Juve?) too in this pre-season if I remember rightly so I hope he can step up if required.

Glover on the other hand, whenever I've seen him (albeit brief again), he's looked terrible and has conceded some really sloppy Gomes-esque goals, yet whenever I've read reports on him they seem to hold him in high regard so I'm presuming I've just watched the few matches he's cocked up in and is actually a talent. He also got a new deal a couple months back so I'd say I've just watched him at the wrong times.

Ian Walker was the last regular first teamer, while Jordan Archer made the bench a few times

    Today's saga updates
    * Mundo Deportivo are reporting we've agreed a loan deal for Lopez, with a £500k loan fee and an option to sign him for £6m next summer
    * The Standard are reporting the Nkoudou/N'Jie merry-go-round is back on, with Nkoudou's agent pushing for OM to stop doing a Marseilles
    * Eriksen is on the verge of signing an £80k p/w contract (although this is a Squawka post...)

There's reports saying he's considering going out on loan - although loaning him in for a handful of matches before dropping him when Hugo is match fit will probably get us a ****ton of negative press...

Thanks SOS kind reinforces what I was thinking. If we don't expose them to real action we won't know how good they actually are. And Joe Hart - no thanks

Walker was a good keeper, but what does it say about our scouting since that time?
