SAN REMO entered in a Maiden at The Curragh on Saturday. I've just spent a few hours up at Juddmonte (photos later!) and gleaned some information - BROOKLYN BOBBY is expected to run this weekend at Saratoga and has been working well. Interestingly, in relation to SOUL STIRRING's win on Sunday, apparently 2yo fillies in Japan do not get a weight allowance from the colts until September/October, so her win was all the more impressive when you consider she was carrying level weight and was the only filly in the field.
I've had a quick look on Equibase and while I can't yet see a race entry for BROOKLYN BOBBY, he is certainly at Saratoga and posting workouts. Unfortunately the numbers mean nothing to me!
I've looked online and apparently for a 4 furlong breeze a decent horse will be looking at between 47-50 seconds. A good 5 furlong breeze is 49-1:01. If I'm reading Brooklyn Bobby's workouts correctly he breezed 4 furlongs in 48.35 in his last piece of timed work, which seems pretty respectable. Although most of Frankel's first crop two year olds are immpecably bred, this colt stands out as his dam is a Gr1 winning half-sister to Zenyatta.
Here's a picture of BROOKLYN BOBBY (left) working at Saratoga last week. According to Twitter his work companion is Gr1 winner GRAND ARCH! please log in to view this image
ZEFFERINO and MAJORIS have both been declared for their races at Newmarket on Friday and Saturday respectively.
Article about BROOKLYN BOBBY It's also been confirmed that he will run without Lasix, as do many horses from his trainer's barn.
SAN REMO has been taken out at The Curragh but has been given entries at Gowran Park and Leopardstown next week.
Very cosy win for MAJORIS at Newmarket, a step up in class next time I'm sure. BROOKLYN BOBBY's race is approx 6pm our time.
The way things are going with Frankel's offspring I would wager ten pounds sterling that he gets a 130+ horse in his first crop.
BROOKLYN BOBBY disappointing. Missed the break, which blew all his chances from Stall 1, and just looked all at sea when asked to make a move in the home straight. Edit to add - he wasn't given the best ride either to be fair.
ALZEZEERA entered at Doncaster on Saturday FRANKUUS entered in the Listed Washngton Singer Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.
MAJORIS is entered for the Group 3 Solario Stakes at Sandown on Saturday, if Hugo Palmer wants to give him a day out. Of the sixteen other entries, only the two Hannon horses (of those with ratings) have higher marks.
