Not sure Charlie's wages are necessarily an issue. Quite often the club loaning the player picks up much of the tab (we were paying some of Caulker's wages when he was at Southampton). I have been expecting this story given his lack of game time at St Marys and Koeman's departure, but we can't compete with Everton and Charlie wouldn't give up on the premiership without a good run in the team somewhere. would he?!
No chance. As he showed with us, he can definitely score goals at that level. He can do a job with someone in the Premiership, even if it is not with Southampton.
This would be lovely, if true, but Charlie deserves to be in the Premier League and there's a number of PL teams who need a goal machine just like him. A loan deal, where Southampton share the cost of his wages, would make him affordable to QPR and Charlie's temperament would make him a good fit in our newly harmonious dressing room.
Not so sure that many PL Clubs in locations he'd move to will want him with his injury record, and when his game apart from scoring isn't top quality, and doesn't play at his best as a lone striker. He'd have to play well to get picked in front of Polter too, lovely dreams....
Tell you what Os, there's not many who'd have said that 12 months ago........BFG appreciation society continues to grow......
Yeah, I'm a fully paid up member of that club too. When you consider some of the dross we have had playing up front over the years, we are very lucky to have someone with BFG's strength, work rate and goal threat. I'm really glad he's getting credit for that now.
The PL season is only one game old isn't it a bit soon to be writing Austin off for the Saints yet? He's not going to come here and be second choice anyway and it would be grossly unfair on Polts.
I think Arsenal have said he will go out on loan so probably wishful thinking but possible given he is a winger and would get game time with us.
Villa completed signing of Jedinak from Palace for £4 million, an excellent bit of business, he's a proper leader...
