A cracking result for you on the opening day.

You were more or less exactly what I thought you'd be tbh. Very threatening going forwards and there's goals right across your attacking line.

However, your CM is gash, and left your back line exposed, Moreno is as brain dead as a defender as you'll see in the division.

You could be the entertainers this season, scoring hatfuls of goals but needing 3 every week to get the points.

I don't think it will - he did some stupid things yesterday but a lot of arsenals attacks came down our right side. Moreno wasn't involved in arsenals second and third goals.

    He definitely needs upgrading though.

I'm hoping that with Can and Hendo with Hendo as the one to get further forward we may have a combination that works, Hendo as the deep lying player certainly doesn't work. If Can can offer the back line some protection we may have a better balance to build on.

They were daft to not attack down his flank though, he improved because he didn't have much to do. If they had targetted him we'd have been right in the ****. But like you say he need replacing and banging on about it wont help, yesterday was a mixed bag but something to build on.

this first goal was not a direct result of moreno.

It was a direct result of poor transition play by the ACMS dilly dallying and losing the ball in their won half when moreno was probably following the plan and going forward as fast as possible.

the penalty and earlier shocker of a challenge that just about worked out were examples of why he should be lined up agaisnt a wall and shot.

Probably, but that's not what I was taught as an attacking full back or what I've seen coached since I retired. You should go forward with a mind to joining the play late if required and not trying to get up with the attacking play and that was for the very reason that Moreno got caught out with. He constanly joins too early and with his pace there's simply no need, if he held back and waited for the space he would be very effective while also covering at the back.

Losing the ball in midfield happens and yes that was Lallanas fault but if Moreno is 5-10 yards further back he recovers comfortably. He also has the pace to still get forward if we don't lose the ball.

It isn't the whole solution, but it would make an enormous difference (provided the replacement is an improvement, obviously).
There is some truth in what you say about the others, but they can be coached and organised to improve. Moreno, as things stand, is nowhere near the required standard for a PL club with any aspirations, and doesn't appear to have the capacity to learn.

He's also now sporting a top bun type thing.

For that reason alone he deserves the skip.

He's had that for a while now. So has Firmino. Footballers really ought not to be let out should they?

It's a shocker of a look, made even worse when combined with a full beard combo, thus:

An attacking FB should be on the overlap when the attack is established and not when we're still trying to build well into our own half.
If he's fast- which Moreno is - then he can leave his opposition winger trailing in his wake, but not still hanging around our box unmarked waiting for a ball over the top.
Getting forward is a necessity for a modern FB, but their timing has to be right, which is the whole problem with Moreno.

all I can say is theres a plan for that transition and if he were not following it he'd not be played!

I cannot comprehend why he's still playing for us at all but he must be at least following this plan if he's still in.

This no way exonerates Moreno, the lad needs a period of time on the bench (at the very least)...
But we know the nature of the lad, when we have the ball, he likes to bomb forward..
Leading to their goal, we had possession, he's obvious next action, by default is to make himself available down the left, so off he trotts..
He didn't lose the ball 20 yards from his own penalty area..?
He didn't play a sloopy pass into his player that lead to the ball being lost..?
A quick challenge and pass and most FBs of his nature would be out of position..
Still, saying that, he needs to be less egger to run forward, just a bit!

If Klopp can't get the LB he wants, then I can see Moreno and Milner playing LB until the likes of Gomez gets fit, what we'd lose in forward threat (not that we need much help with the front 4-6 players we have) we'll more than make up with his better defensive ability!

Still, what a game and what a result!
Nothing lucky about our 4 goals, and had their 2nd not got a deflection, therefore give them some impetus, we'd have run out comfortable winners!

Also, Ragnar Klavan (sounds like a Game of Thrones character, so I've nicknamed him King of the North!) in the the HooHaa about Mane's debut, played pretty well!
