Does anyone think that Wenger will sign a new contract? He's in his last year of his contract and he hasn't strengthened in this transfer window which would have given him a better chance of winning the league.

There is a high probability that we won't win the league or get very far in the CL. We might grab a domestic cup. What is the minimum he has to achieve to justify a new contract. Top 4 again?

He actually looked a broken man today when interviewed, he came out with the usual statements about mental strength etc but mumbled them with his head down. I got the impression that another couple of defeats could push him to go. He looked short of fight and ready to give up.
Is it all him or are his hands tied when he wants to push on, I only ask because of Gazide's statement about not being able to compete.

It's hard to tell who is behind it all but I suspect that Wenger is involved in the financial aspects as he regularly talks about it. As for him being a broken man, he's probably weary of seeing his team struggle at the start of the season, losing their first game by a wide result at home. Coupled with the likelyhood of his contract extension hinging on a good season. Oh and the booing would have had an impact, does he want to go through all that again? It'll get worse if he doesn't get any good signings and doesn't get some results together.

Yeah, but is he toeing the company line, it's well known Fergie did this with us for quite a while a few years back.

Of course he is, but he IS part of the company. If it really was an issue he could have left ages ago and be snapped up by any other top Euro side. He was chiefly responsible for the current Arsenal project and it's the main thing that's keeping him at the club. He's happy at Arsenal, it's his baby.

There is nothing Wenger could do this year to justify a new contract.

First week of the season, and he already looks and sounds like the weak loser he is, long season ahead, because this man will never do the right thing and walk, infact at this point, I am actually expecting him to sign another new contract, if we manage to scrap fourth.

What's annoying is why doesn't he just roll the dice and get in those players he needs and then try and compete. He's gone into the new season under-prepared and under-strength. At least go with a bang than a whimper, he at least deserves that after all the hard work he's put into the financial side of things. Strange.

It's bizarre. Arsenal are a rich club and the deficiencies in the squad have been so obvious for years but he refuses to address them. He can make snide remarks about United as much as he wants but £120 million on Ibra, Pogba and Bailly is affordable to Arsenal and it would arguably make them the best team in the league.

Let's be honest, Wenger WILL be offered a new contract no matter what. It's only if he refuses it or not.

I personally think/hope this is his last season. Would be astounded if he signed an extension...

Time for him to go no doubt, he's lost the plot and cannot see what the squad needs to compete. One of his big flaws is that he cannot see when a player is done and needs replacing.

I'd argue his biggest flaw is his inability to see when the manager is done and needs replacing <laugh>

Seriously though, as a Chelsea fan, I really don't know why this gets me so riled, but it does.
I just hate to see the wasted potential.
Arsenal are one of the big staple names of English football, and to see them stagnate like this for no reason other than a boards greed and a over-the-hill managers ******ation is sacrilege
