Sir alex has dropped a huge hint that berb is on his way out...
    This Is from skysportsnews.....
'speaking to reporters after the marseille game, ferguson responded with a quick "yes" when asked if psg fans could expect to see him turn out for the French side next year'

I rate berba if this is true then I for one will be sad to lose such a technically gifted player.
    Thoughts?

A French television journalist asked the United manager if Berbatov could play with Paris St-Germain, who are interested in signing the striker. "Yes," a smiling Ferguson replied. "Absolutely, no problem."

that statement is just a tongue in cheek reply.possibly meaning "yes of course " "as he could probably play for plymouth argyle"?.will he?i doubt it.

The journo didn't actually say PSG. She said "Could Berbatov play with Paris?" which is a pretty mangled sentence to interpret with the crowd still making noise behind you. His response reminded me of my Grandad, who's deaf in one ear and just says "Yep, definitely" whenever you ask him a question he doesn't hear.

    Spot on.

He was obviously saying "sure Berbatov could, doesn't mean it'll happen."

He isn't getting any younger and his price will decrease rapidly every year now. Rooney and Hernandez with back up of Welbeck, Macheda, Owen, and even Young is a good strike force with plenty of variation.

If you get the 18-20mil prices that are being rumoured then that's a result in my opinion.

You guys are clowns no offense. I agree Swarbs, he clearly did not understand what she was saying. Since when would Ferguson say one of his players is leaving whilst saying only a few weeks ago he was staying? Watch the interview again. Also how is losing Berbatov a good thing? Not sure Kiko being his replacement is a good thing? He is hardly a upgrade. With us losing Vds, Scholes, and Brown and Oshea already, would it be wise to lose another key player? The stupidity of some of you. Come on!!!!.

If we lose Berbatov can you put up a case for us being stronger. Regardless of how red tinted your glasses are, I doubt you could. Our midfield is weaker and you want to make our forward line weaker? Also we are in a weaker position in goal as well and have a less experienced defense. I think because of our weakening and Chelsea's and Arsenals lack of spending, City have an opening to win this league. We still have not improved our midfield when we clearly need to and it is clear we will not Sneidjer.

The only winners this summer are the Glazers!!! They have freed up a lot of wages and if we lose Berbatov they will be very happy men. There aim is to get the CL Tv money and finish in the top 4. Anything regardless of that does not matter.

I agree with that. It would be a HUGE gamble to have Welbeck, Owen, Macheda, or Diouf as our 3rd striker. The only one of those 4 who I think could actually push for a starting place in League games is Welbeck, but he seems to be pretty injury prone.

I personally think that using Owen and Welbeck as 3rd striker is OK not as good as berbatov but they would do fine. I also think the discussion is pointless as the phrasing of the answer is odd and that leads me to believe Swarb's version of events.

I dont think it is to be honest. he'll still do more than a good job and its not all about the price return. you mainly buy a player to perform for your team not to sell him on later ( you bought berba at around 26-27 right? so it was clearly not about sell on value) Id just keep him till hes around 32 and his performances start rapidailly decreasing then let him go. at the moment he offers your team something diffrent why throw that away? espcially when hes happy to fight for his place? your just making your team weaker.

good point - Berba has displayed good attitude ; He was the top scorer and dropped for CL final! But he never sulked publicly (i know it is against Fergie which is impossible)

Wish Drog could learn from him to be a team player.

Although you have the best wingers they are not the best crossers of the ball and thats for sure, while there all decent crossers only valencia is one of the top 3 crossers in the prem and does it reguarly. also you've paid the 30m its to late to not do the deal, he deffinately performed last season and he wants to fight for his place. i think to be honest the most your going to get for berba is 15m, that might take away 10-20 of your goals next season. who knows.

Why are some people so obsessed with players' sell on value and think we should sell up before their value drops?

I honestly don't give a **** how much one of our players is worth. I care about whether they add anything to our team and squad.

I agree, though it would be foolish to ignore the business side of the game.

I would prefer to see Welbeck as 3rd choice, his style of play suits us better than Berbas especially in the PL.With Welbeck in the team we will be more dynamic and Danny is a much better finisher than Berba.

An argument for Berbatovs style would be that he is perfectly suited for Champions league Football but SAF doesnt play him in Europe.

Man Utd are not a club who need to sell players, they make hundreds of millions a year.

in what world is welbeck a better finisher than berbatov??

yes welbeck is starting to look like a player who could go places but this is a nothing comment, id still rather berbs in the team over welbec, however i think if 18-20 mill is offered for berba we should take and re invest the money

Would you regard Berbatov as a good finisher?I dont.If he was he would have scored 30+ goals last season. He is a creative forward in my book and a very good one at that, I`m not slating Berba, I like him, I just think that DW will be a better fit at United.

DW is a quality finisher and has been at every level he has played at.Bookmark this and I will happily concede defeat if at the end of the season DW has failed to impress.

To be fair most of those appearances have been off the bench or in dead rubbers with the reserves. Its still poor but the stats dont tell the whole story.

I think if we can get £20 million plus for him then think we should sell him.
