As far as team GB womens sprinting goes we are ok as there are a lot of very good young ones already. The mens sprinting is also actually ok too with the likes of Gemili. Hottie alert as Cav is on.
Bannister, Pirie, Chataway, Ovett, Coe, Cram, Elliott, Foster, Metcalfe, Brightwell, Black, Thompson, Wells, Christie, Davies, Capes, Packer ... Off the top of my head, and loads more. The Brits are traditionally brill at T&F.
Over what time scale are most of those though? You need to remember that many emerging nations are not emerging anymore. They are here and winning. You have to focus on what you are good at if you have a finite amount of monies. It's very likely that we will end up with 2 golds (Both from the same athlete), 1 silver and 1 bronze from tons of events in T&F. In the meantime 3 golds and 2 Silvers in the rowing. 1 gold and 5 silvers in swimming. 3 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze (so far) in cycling. No one in their right mind would reduce funding in those events and put it into T&F which would need tons more to even make a real dent. In fact it looks very likely that our Gynastics numbers will match exactly the T&F numbers. Then look at the available events in T&F compared to Gynastics.
GOLD MEDAL ALERT!!!!! Jason Kenny beats Callum Skinner into silver so it's a 1-2 for team GB. Get in lads.
I HAVE RETURNED THERE WAS NO BLOODY QUIZ, TYPICAL Has anyone mentioned that we've been guaranteed gold in the sailing?
As the BBC's lady MC ( The horsey one, and RL one - forget her name) just said it's "A steamy hot night Rio". Don't let it both you Murray lad...get in there...think of Budapest
Tripped by his training partner, Galen Rupp, whom the US commentators were talking up as if he had an earthly chance.
Fooking hell how much does Cav want a gold! Galen Rupp who won silver in London 2012. Rupp who I think Mo has distanced himself from somewhat as doping allegations have followed Rupp about for quite a long time now.
