Great start to the season, been looking forward to the start of the season for ages and didnt disappoint. Few defensive errors need ironing out, but we do look quite scary in attack at times and plenty more oprions and competition in the squad
I doubt we'll sell him. We will keep him as backup even if we signed someone competent. So we will see him again.
Appalling first half it has to be said, but when we started playing at the start of the second we looked so dangerous and have some real quality players - four great goals today. Klopp must prioritise that LB before it's too late, I mean he's been **** in the past but today took the piss. Strange game I thought. We scored 4 goals and yet there's still quite a lot of food for thought in terms of improving our team. Left back has to be sorted one way or another. It was bad enough when Moreno almost cost us the semi final vs Villareal, even worse when he actually did cost us the final vs Sevilla, along with god knows how many PL points last year, but he almost cost us 3 points today. We can't keep bailing hm out. Wijnaldum I thought had a bit of a strange game in midfield, A lot of positives and negatives, which is to be expected I suppose. One thign I will say thogh is that if he is playing as a CM then he needs a more consistant DM next to him than Henderson, because he's certainly not going to be doing the off the ball work in midfield. Mane is just class. We haven't had a player as direct as him since Suarez. Makes such a difference when the opposing defence is worrying about players running at them - they didn't have to worry too much about that last season.
Klopp must have given them a hell of a team talk at half time. I suspect it was "Don't let Moreno touch the ball under any circumstances, and we can win this one"
Its interesting to watch him, as it is clear he is just so so thick. What was he doing for the penalty, in what world did he think that was even the right way to tackle there, let alone timing. Then for Walcotts actual goal, compare his positioning to Clyne the other side, Moreno was getting near the half way line. There was an earlier mistake too, where he headed the ball back towards goal and then double footed in on Ramsey. Just so so reckless. Idiot of a man
Hendo is not nor ever will be a DM. I thought it was a luxury to play without Can in that midfield today. Can't keep using Coutinho as a modern day Ronnie whelan covering a modern day Julian Dicks. It's like using a Lambourghini to tow a caravan.
Wasn't impressed with Henderson, think he's gone backward since his injury and clearly isn't a DM. If he wasn't captain then I don't think he'd be a starter and might have even been sold this summer.
The game today just sums up the need for 2 solid players in the positions everybody has been crying out for, for the last 2 years, if not longer. I think if we can only bring in one though a true DM has to be the choice. A good DM can cover a lot of a defensive frailties. Kante for Leicester for example. If Moreno is told to just play lb, and not to go forward at all, then he may become half decent. Its his positional sense rather than his ability. Its not the boys fault he is as thick as pig ****
As an amendment we have just won away at the gooners, in a a fantastic match, im much more toward happy than sad.
I love a true DM but don't agree about that position being a priority over LB. However, I've got a feeling we'll splash money on Dahoud if we manage to sell Benteskey
His defensive ineptness is actually masked when he's miles up the pitch or, as in one episode, somehow turning up on the right wing. When he's in position and in the right place he actually gives away penalties or heads the ball skew whiff into the path of an attacking opponent as he did this afternoon, forcing one of his wild, uncoordinated lunges to try and rectify his ****eness.
well that was weird crap for 40 mins then we score . first 20 mins of 2nd half going forward excellent then ending up hanging on for grim death Mane - great to have a wide attacker who worries the opposition by taking them on. Centre Midfield - umm i don't think Hendo was quite as poor as others but he aint no DM and the injury has affected his performance. Wijnaldum confuses me some nice bits of play but not sure what he is there for.LaLa good goal but at fault for their 1st goal Migs - thought he was good today commanded his box better nowt he could do about the goals Firm - mirrored the team , pretty crap apart from 20 mins
