Great idea...A tunnel straight into the marina....Brady and Geriatric Terry can remove the final brick..
The community effectively get 6 months to get the cash together, after which the owner can reject the bid anyway. I assume the listing continues under any new owner. That being the case, the community group can get charged compensation for costs incurred by the owners (except Councils) due to a delay.
So I ask again If people think it's a good idea to sell the stadium to the next owners the why didn't you think it was a good idea to sell it to the Allams?
Yes Lots of people did several years ago, me included And it's pretty much why they fell out with the Council in the first place I don't see the difference regarding the stadium between selling to the Allams, the Chinese or the Yanks. It's all a bad idea
Perhaps it's the case that the Allams wanted it for free or no where near its value but the Chinese are prepared to pay its true value for the benefit of Hull ratepayers.
Hmm According to HDM the Council will consider selling it for £1 to them I think if the Allams wanted it for free they would have been prepared to be haggled up to £1...maybe even a fiver! So I still don't see the difference (and I still think selling it is a **** idea)
It's obviously not really available for a quid, it says they can buy it for £15-20m or buy it for a quid if they want to donate a similar amount to the city in another way. As I remember, the vast majority thought Allam should have been allowed to develop his Sport Village and the Council screwed the deal up. That was obviously before people were aware that he's a bit of a twat.
I would like a guarantee from the new owners that during any new developments within the city that a member of HCC should be interred in the foundations as a type of Fung Shui offering.
No it doesn't say "donate" It says you can buy it for £1 if you spend £15/20m on an "infrastructure development" So if you do that properly you could build something worth £15/20m and still be the owner of that thing, and still own the ground, for say £15,000,001 I didn't think the Council should have sold it to Allam, and I don't think they should sell it to anyone else either
Semantics, they'd have to cough £15m odd to get the freehold of the stadium and it would have to be money the council got to keep. The stadium for a quid thing is a complete red herring anyway, it's a quote from an idiot. I can understand why some people think it should be kept in public ownership, but it generates no income for the public and I'm sure the council would love to turn it into some cash.
BTW it isn't semantics if you believe what was reported was what was said My take on it was correct However I do agree with you that even if they did say that it's bollocks and won't happen
Didn't the SMC pay something back to the council in the early days? its only since the Allams turned up that stopped. I think the council did the right thing in building the KC but were far too soft in the contract side of things.
If the counccil sold it , aren't they compelled to spend the money on other capital projects ? Probably easy to find something to use this money for , but then will come the liability of insurance , maintenance , employment of people to staff whatever it is . That might be a commitment the council can't honour .
