Yeh I'd like to think that. If the kids are good enough stick them in. It's something over the years we have not done. Even when we were very poor we never played the kids
Go and take you face for a ****. This a thread about youth development, not what the resident senile ****er wants in his starting line up.
I never thought so many would feature the way they have. Still expect most of them to go out on loan this season. It's just so refreshing
TEAM NEWS: #SAFC U23s starting XI: Pickford, J Robson, T Robson, Brady, Ledger, Wright, Agnew, Greenwood, Honeyman, Embleton, Asoro
Aye, this lad may have a bright future. 61' GOAL! Asoro makes the breakthrough with a fierce strike after a defensive error from Chelsea. #SAFC lead 1-0.
I was impressed pre season with Josh Robson rather than Tom but that is the only time I have seen them play, would be interested to here what you think of Josh, Bri as you did not mention him. Pickford is also waiting patiently in the wings, Vito is playing well but I would like to see more of Pickford as I am worried about some club like Everton coming in with an offer. Final score 1-1.
Part of a very solid u21 side, highly rated by all accounts but he is quite a bit younger than the bulk of that u21 squad. Looked solid when ever I've seen him on u21 streams. Sure he was only 17 when last season started. So he needs a bit off time than most of the lads coming through. But he's got a good bunch of staff to bring him on and develop him further.
Thanks mate, I love it when kids come through, even the "Ginger Perlo" still look out for them and think of them as part of our club.
@Hefty fullback Surprised you've not taken an interest in this. Gooch looks a future US international in the making.
Just mentioned he is a yank on another thread. I read an article on him yesterday. Could also play for england or ireland but has pledged himself to the states. Even though he has played for ireland once for the experience.
I bet there's so many players from the US who can play the duel nationality card to represent different countries. What with them being a new world country.
Bet they all qualify for mexico in some way. Gooch is a yank. A full season of tactical breakdowns and sqawka stats awaits from hefty.
Great to see the young`uns doing well and getting a chance. Others seeing there are opportunities must be good for future recruitment. Huge improvements over the last few years. Must admit to being a bit disappointed Watmore hasn`t improved as much as I thought he would. Maybe I was expecting too much. That Asoro lad looks a real find. Brilliant seeing all these new names appearing. Would be great if they could get some experience in the championship but with the numbers we have atm I don`t see how we can spare them. So many so close. Haway the bairns.
One thing for sure, if Gooch plays regularly for Sunderland, he will get a call up. Like most, I was surprised by his presence in the line up. I also didn't think he did all that much, but I just re-watched the match, focusing on Gooch, and I don't think his selection was a fluke. On defence, he played narrowly, almost like a center mid. He pressed often and only got beat once (the yellow card). He had 8 touches on offense. 1 turnover, 1 clearance, 2 good crosses, 1 hopeful ball into the penalty area, and 3 completed passes. I don't think Khazri is fully fit. He didn't look great in preseason.
You guys are great.... What do you think about the new rule changes with regards to no 'overtime' in cup games
Moyes on youth players: When asked about Gooch showing no fear to take players on, Moyes said: “Especially, I thought, in the early part of the game. “The biggest thing was I needed people who were going to run and have energy." “Until we improve, then we can afford people who maybe don’t run about as much, I want people who are going to work for the team and be part of the team." “I have told them that. I thought the wee boy did a great job.” Love, who last week signed a four-year deal after leaving Manchester United, was also thrown straight in at right-back. The 21-year-old, who can also play in midfield, endured a nervy start but grew into the game.Moyes was pleased with the impact of the club’s younger players. “I take a lot from it, especially giving two young boys their debut,” added Moyes.“I thought they both did really well and that is what you want to do, to give your young boys an opportunity when the players aren’t there because of injuries.“I’m more disappointed for the players because they put in a great effort. You’ve got to remember that we gave two boys their debut - against Man City.I though Gooch did great and Donald had only met the players once. So, well done to the boys for coming in and putting in such a good performance.” Read more at: http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...o-give-youth-a-chance-at-sunderland-1-8070474
