Oh Helen....you didn't mention me once...............Shan't come again.......... Fran didn't either........
We'll start a special thread for you, Beddy! I'm sure they were just so honored by your presence that they missed you out! And next time I WILL by you that small, sweet sherry .......
I did....someone asked who was in the picture and I mentioned that you had just left. I'm a good girl
To be fair Beddytare, I think her heart was all a flutter having been swept away by a young prince.... ..... Allegedly
I thought the Watford number 17 Guardolia or something like that looked very good. Very strong in possession. Great comments on this forum as always. Will be interesting to see how the diamond works against a team not as compact as Watford.
My official position is now anti-diamond, I have more trouble adapting to it than the players maybe? Now watch us win the European Cup with our 'famous diamond formation' in 2018.
I couldn't possibly declare myself "anti-diamond" after one game, particularly after a game where we didn't have our passing boots on for 45 minutes. The formation wasn't the reason for the poor passing. The poor passing wasn't because there want anyone to pass to, just too many players being unable to pass a ball 5-10 yards.
From the other point of view, I suspect the Watford fans were pleased....though disappointed not to hold on. They must have been approaching this season with trepidation. Their new manager can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear, but he has organised them and they play with tenacity....must have settled a few nerves.
I think they are a lot better than a sow's ear Fran. This side spent a lot of last season in the top 10 before finishing a respectable 13th. They were very tenacious and organised last season (maybe with the exception of the game at St Mary's) My mate was there yesterday in the Watford end and I spoke to him last night. He said they were shocked at how bad our passing was and that they missed an opportunity in the first half to not do more with the ball as we kept giving it back to them. He said it was the one time he wished they hadn't "managed the game" so early. I agreed with him on that. He also felt they were lucky to hang on in the second half and was happy with a point.
I've no idea what it is. Hopefully when the players have worked it out themselves, it will all make sense.
You are now just being stubborn, you really are. To date you still are the only person, pundit, reporter, commentator, Watford fan, saints fan, Watford manager or staff who thinks it wasn't a red. You seriously are looking so hard to see what you wanted to see. Long doesn't even have to cut back in as you kept saying. If he kept running straight that is a clear shooting position. The Watford player gets into that position to cover during the process of Long falling over. He was never going to cover Long.
Oh and only referee too If you really believe that, I don't think you're going to make a good referee.
Calling it, you are trolling. Actually it's a good effort, perseverance spread over two days, I am impressed.
After such a poor first half, I was interested how Claude could motivate this team at half time so snuck into the dressing room. My French isn't great but heard the words Il n'y a qu' un Seul numero sept, and the players were reading some positive match thread on a tablet..... keep it up number 7 As for the red, couldn't tell from the kingsland/northam corner and not seen it since but just shows that even if you had video evidence these are tough calls. A refs job is a hard one (can't believe I'm defending east after the abuse I gave him yesterday)
