Ashbee for most people was never going to make it in League 1. Then the Championship, then the PL. He did the same job for us at every level. Meylers the same. He's a scruffy bastard whether it's PL or Championship but he's also a very useful player in other ways.

No the first goal was down to a penalty being incorrectly awarded.

You are Sterling and I claim my £5. His assessment of players remains dreadful.

Pre-match I'd never felt so low about the club, I felt more confident under Iain Dowie, but as the game wore on my confidence grew and by the end of it I felt terrific, the best I've felt since we went 2-0 up in the cup final. That has to go down as one of the best results in our history given the circumstances, maybe even better than our victory over Arsenal in 2008.

Also, I felt that the fans were pretty much entirely united for the first time in a while, which was nice to see.

My suspicion is, he's not as good as he thought he was, and was over looked at some point, which is why he does some "talent spotting".

He's like a film critic who had a script turned down, or a food critic who can't cook.

Will have to agree to disagree, Meyler was sloppy in possession which led to Huddz fouling their player and the goal, no quibbles that it wasn't a pen

At least you didn't hurt his feelings further by comparing him to a teacher

That's it with Meyler, he does his bit for the team, not all the players have to be technically brilliant for a team like us or any team really

Best ever premier league performance imo. After everything else, to overcome that kick in the teeth, non penalty, straight after half time was immense. These are for me the sort of performances that make the game so special. As Leicester themselves showed last year, the form and the odds can always be confounded by a united and determined team performance.

True story:- I missed the game and haven't even been able to get online to keep up with things here all day due to a family emergency. All I heard was it was still 0-0 just before half time. I was chuffed enough with that. Wasn't till 6pm that I actually got the score. Went back into the hospital to tell my mam (now recovering) the news only to walk into a conversation at the next bed from a Scottish (!?! plastic?) Leicester City fan saying he wanted to get back home to see MOTD and his team's first game. He'd been doing a Likely Lads and avoided the score all day.

    :emoticon-0130-devil

Obviously I couldn't resist such an open goal. Must admit, he took it well though.

It's great to be able to be able to be proud of your team again. :) That's all I really want, my team playing as a team and giving 100% at whatever level they find themselves at.

I recon the lack of enforced negative tactics played it's part too. I doubt they would have achieved it under Bruce. They need and deserve some support coming in pretty quick though. But a couple of fighting displays like this will stand us in good stead for the season.

Wish I could have been there. Good support for the team from those who were.

Brilliant result what a difference it makes to my weekend after all that as gone on, players, support were fantastic, just hope now we are in a position in the next couple of weeks to strengthen because we all know the eleven players out there today need help. Lets hope for positive news in the next few days regarding the take over I know there is mention now of another Chinese consortium hope that doesn't make it linger on.

Well done lads, great performance by Snodgrass, you will probably have Brady back off us soon.

Excellent. Glad to see some support for one of our players.
You could go through the full eleven and point to errors they did make, ones they will make in the future. But **** that they're ours and they played for us yesterday.

For me Thudd had his best game for us in years yesterday, and the penalty decision was terrible. Thudd had his DM anchor removed and looked so much better for it.

As always Meyler goes about his job and many don't appreciate what he does. Clucas certainly was the standout performer in midfield, but Meyler quietly does what Meyle does.

I have seen most of the preseason games, and Mike Phelan has played Clucas in that role, maybe from necessity, but I have been impressed with his energy and industry, with no lack of ablilty on the ball.

    You and me both John.
I thought that battling run at the end down the left flank by Meyler was great, 90th minute too. Huge amount of work he did too. And Hudd charging one down against Fuchs on the other side too.

So easy to call and slag of our own players though.

I was very impressed how City played out the 5 minutes of injury time, they kept the ball up Lesta's end for the most part, and didn't just go deep and defend it out.

Don't think any player could be criticised for their performance yesterday, given the opposition, the fact they probably knew they were going to play the full 90 minutes, circumstances, expectations and personal pride.

They pulled off a win against the odds with togetherness and despite the fact they knew they were up against it. You could see they are pulling for each other, when was the last time you saw our players in a prematch huddle.

A few missed passes can be forgiven, but they'll need help and some new teammates soon as they won't be able to play full tilt every week.

So give them a break until we get some of the issues resolved. They deserve more praise than criticism for going out there and giving a performance of determination, heart and fight for themselves and for us too.

First game I've really felt involved with for a very very long time.

What impressed me most, was not the fact that all eleven players gave 100% for ninety minutes, but that they managed to do so playing some really good football.
