I can't be bothered to track back and find the complaints thread, so I will complain about the fact that we are subjected to Eddie Butler and his wordy voice overs far too often. It's just words taken from a thesaurus said slowly in a Welsh accent. United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Why don't we call ourselves UKOGBANI? Just to be inclusive.
Gold and silver in the rowing eights, outstanding. Almost as good as watching Steve Redgrave barely stopping himself from punching John Inverdale, something I would dearly love to see. Always amazed how this big mouthed nobody has stolen a living all these years.
Murray wins his semi:final...played some good tennis today, so should be strong for the final tomorrow
Just how good are we at rowing boats and riding bikes? Especially at the Olympics. Incredible preparation, conditioning and planning.
Typical ! What chance have we poor humble Aussies have when we, as such a small populated nation, have to not only compete against the might of the much larger countries but ........ we then have to contend with you lot teaming up with other countries, to act as one, to only just beat us Aussies by a coat of paint in a mere rowing race. It's just not crickey l say.
I don't know why you haven't posted the up to date medals table Aussie.... Great day yesterday. Stayed up too late to watch Mo, always felt that Rutherford would be lucky to repeat his gold he's a great competitor but is never going to jump really long. Ennis-Hill came up against an athlete who posted five personal bests in seven events, outstanding. Anthony Worrall Thompson hasn't got the minerals for this event, if she can't actually do two of them she is always going to struggle. More to come today. Minimum one gold and three silvers already guaranteed. Even though it's a farce having golf at the Olympics, hope Rose does the job there too. Plus potential for one or two in the men's gymnastics. Shame I have to spend the day emptying the kitchen of all its contents before the builders turn up tomorrow.
Recorded it all and just watched it back. Mo was awesome. Rutherford is one of those athletes who pull out a performance when it really matters. He wasn't reigning world and Olympic champion for nothing. The jump that was fractionally a foul looked like the winner and that length was well within his reach. He gets unfair criticism imo. Jess was up against an inspired athlete and was never quite at her best recovering from injury earlier in the season. She still nearly pulled it off though. The super Saturday of London was unlikely to be repeated, but gold, silver and bronze will have to do. Thompson just doesn't look like a winner to me. Mentally frail.
Recorded it! Call yourself a sports fan! Where's the commitment! To be honest I slept really badly as a result of over excitement in the early hours. I was probably a bit hard on Rutherford, his record is outstanding. The long jump is a frustrating event, we so rarely see a really long jump in a major final. The people I feel really sorry for are all these very articulate multiple medal winning rowers, because Redgrave, Pinsent and Cracknell have already pinched the well paid expert commentator spots.
Have to say Rutherford was desperately unlucky, I think he said when interviewed afterwards that the 'foul' jump actually wasn't a foul on later review but wasn't measured. Although his distances aren't in the upper end of 8 metres he's always done enough to win. To hold all four major titles at the same time is an amazing feat and he's never been given the credit some of the other top athletes get. Jess left herself too much to do against a much younger rival, she may try for the World Championship in 2017 but may find the young guns will improve still further, a tough call as to whether to bow out now. Mo was simply brilliant, effectively racing against two 'teams', recovering from a fall and still outgunning them. Let's hope he adds the 5k next week...
I'm enjoying a lot of the games (as much as I can reasonably fit in). It's definitely picked up since the cycling started for me. Unfortunately the athletics seems to fall outside of my radar (surprising given my general lack of sleep). Especially looking forward to seeing Joshua Buatsi (if I've got his name right) in the boxing later. Was highly impressed with his last round.
As a builder myself, yes, l too appreciate clients prepping before we turn up. As far as the medal tally updates goes, l would love to accommodate you but l'm struggling to find the time at present ...... must keep our clients happy you know.
The golf is shaping up nicely. It looks like a two way battle between Rose and Stenson. I hope Mr. Mc Ilroy is watching. Oh wait a minute, he is watching diving and swimming. Oh wait, there is no diving and swimming on at the moment. Maybe he is watching repeats of EastEnders instead. Enjoy Rory.
Whitlock wins Gold on the floor ! Incredible achievement, first ever Gymnastic Gold for Great Britain and we've still got the Pommel to come !
