He wasn't he used to play and score with his arm in a sling his head bandaged up... the man IS a LEGEND (note the use of capitals to emphasise my point) the only England captain who has also been any good since was Tony Adams. .

come on, even the most die hard liverpool fan knows that Robbo was quality. You had Emelyn Hughes who I wish had been a United player he was class, and we had Robbo.

KPR that video of yours does it have 1977 fa cup final, 1979 & 1985 fa cup semi finals on it per chance?

    what, no?

    Why's that then?

I have to agree that Robson was a class player and a great captain. One of the best... debatable.

I'm not saying he wasn't class!! I'm just saying I don't think he was an England Legend and a great captain, simply because he was always injured in the big tournaments, which is a crying shame for himself and England. Similarly I wouldn't say David Beckham was a great captain because he never performed when it mattered in the big tournaments, only in the mickey mouse qualifiers against Greece.

I agree with you on Becks, i don't think he was a great captain, great player obviously as he didn't get to where he is now through his taste in woman, dubious dress sense and daft haircuts. :)

A few names worth a mention... Peter Shilton, Emlyn Hughes, Kevein Keegan, Billy Wright, Stuart Pearce and of course Bobby Moore.

Although - Robson is definitely up there with the best <ok>

Pearce? He was captain for the DNQ WC94 debacle wasn't he? Gifted a goal to San Marino on a plate, hardly the stuff of legend! And didn't Shilton only captain the side when Robson was injured? Keegan may have been an ok leader on the pitch, but his record as captain is far worse than Robson's - we failed to qualify in 78 and he played less than half a game in 82.

Bobby Moore is obviously ahead of Robson, but I can't think of an England captain with a better record than those two.

The problem England have is they put far too much emphasis on who wears the armband with media image seeming to play a big part in the decision.

Excellent point you made there, oh wait, you just said bollox, and you aint a very goood scientist at all if you first of all use bollox to make a point, never heard a scientist say that before, and also what I said makes sense and not some sort of "hey aren't I smart" as unfdortunately your attitude is exactly that. You are the sort of scientist that holds progress back, anything that doesn't fit in with your ideology is called bollox, well done, take a bow and the NP prioze for your field while you are at it. Everythng is derived from three properties.

Nice to see a scientist doesn't believe in enlightenment or shatring of knowledge, where's your correction, If I am wrong someone please tell me:) Otherwise, stfu:)

like I said it was a vague memory, difficult to understand though why someone of his pedigree was never capped when you look at some of the dross that have donned the England shirt.
