Yes, maybe you're right. All defensive pairings need time to gel but I believe we are looking for a CB so a change may be coming.
Big 3 points today. Hopefully another 3 next week. More work needs to be done and hopefully we'll see more players come in. As well as a CB I think we could do with another wide player after routlage's display today. Barrow was good first half but I think he's going to be better as an impact player again this season because he struggles to keep his performance levels up for a full 90 mins. Llorente was class and crucial for the Fer tap in. For me montero needs to start the game next week. And bring Barrow in when the full backs start to tire. I think if we had Baston ready for today we would have been on the front foot more. Good result, more work needed.
Didn't get to watch the game today, but a great result for us, despite some saying we were lucky, let's be clear though, we ride our luck and being away and getting a clean sheet is important. The next game will be better I'm sure as the team will gain more understanding of each other, the forwards we have need more time to integrate into the team. I'm quite excited now that the season is underway.
I don't think we were lucky. Fed missed 2 absolute sitters, so did Amat and Llorente. We could have scored 4 or 5 today. Once Llorente gets used to our team, he'll get a few goals.
We deserved the win for the way we dominated play and the amount of chances we had that eventually one went in.....I doubt we will play such a bad team as Burnley for the rest of the season but wow we must sort out our finishing as it is really poor, We must work harder next week and get some understanding where the goal post's are so you can confidently hit the target and stop the countless misses we have been doing for a few seasons.....
I agree with that to some extent, Dai. These stats are not something we would have posted in previous seasons, particularly away from home. How many times have we dominated games but not troubled the keeper? Good to see that we are actually having a go. please log in to view this image
Agree. We were happy with 3 shots a game last season. Keep creating this amount of chances, and once we gel, we'll be firing the goals in.
Yep I agree, if we are not testing the keeper then we won't win games, they will make mistakes between the sticks and we will capitalise on those errors in play. I'm happy we are going in the right direction. And the team we face can make you look bad or good, today we ground out a result we should be thankful.
