3 dropped catches in the first session, very poor. On this wicket,in this weather, you have to take your chances. Sooner or later,as in the case yesterday, one or two of these drops are gonna prove very costly !
2 were simple,Hales at gully off the first ball of the day and Anderson at slip when Shafiq was on 7. The last one was by Finn off his own bowling, never easy but it was one he should've taken. Gonna be an uphill task this afternoon !
A lot of batting for England ahead if they want to salvage anything out of this match and win the series - 200+ behind, with 2 full days ahead, and the remainder of today - time to see what they are made of.
Incredible innings from Hales, well played sir. It's got to the point where you feel disappointment if every ball doesn't go for a boundary.
There was a county game on this ground earlier in the season where Notts got 445 off their 50 overs and Northants came within 20 runs of chasing it down.
Amazing considering it's a test arena, you expect that sort of scoring at a tight ground like Taunton but not at the bigger venues...

The Difference a blade of grass and a red ball makes... 6:27 p.m. - 30 August 2016 Magnificent batting performance by Hales, Root, Butler and Morgan.......Roy will be kicking himself at missing out. Pakistan currently 160/6.....not exactly making a game of it.....
Superb from Hales, but Butler's innings was even sicker in my eyes ! This guy is the most destructive batsman on the planet and makes it look like he's just caressing the ball, we have to find a place for him in the test side. By eliminating either Ballance or Vince and moving Bairstow up the order it's easily solved. Imagine our batting line up as follows Cook,Hales,Root,Bell,Bairstow,Stokes.Butler,Ali,Woakes,Broad and Anderson. That would scare the **** out of any Test team in the world !
Pakistan's bowlers making a game of it today. England 59 for 3 chasing 249. Odd fact from earlier - Imad Wasim has played 10 ODIs and has a batting average that is higher than his top score.
