I'm not sure Bony is any better than what we have. Wellback is better, Walcott is arguably better, Joel Campbell is potentially better.

Its not numbers we are short of. Its TOP quality.

    Mustafi move in serious doubt
Arsenal's move for Shkodran Mustafi appears to be in doubt, with Super Deporte claiming the player's dad has revealed there is no deal between the clubs or with his son.

These had been suggestions Mustafi would be signing in the next 48 hours, follow comments from the Valencia defender's alleged agent, Ali Bulut, that talks are at an advanced stage.

However, Super Deporte has dropped a seemingly massive bombshell... that Mustafi's dad is in fact his son’s representative and that there is no deal being worked upon with Arsenal.

I just can't believe we are going into yet another season with Giroud spearheading our attack. It makes me want to tear my hair out.

He's not been successful in propelling us to the title in the past and he's not going to be the answer in the future, either.

As things stand, I genuinely think it will take us 5 years minimum before we start properly competing with the big teams again. We might win the occasional domestic cup, but that proves diddly squat in terms of squad development and mentality.

The crazy thing is we are maybe 2 players away from having a serious team. Even crazier is that this isn't the first time we've been in this situation over the last few years.

It shows that the Club and manager are not willing to gamble. With the squad we have a we will more than likely finish top 3-4 but its not quite good enough take us to the top.

In order to really dominate we need a a World Class Striker and another top defender. These players won't be cheap and even of we bought them it doesn't guarantee success. Soo we play it safe.

    Its soo ****ing boring.

This is the most defeated I've ever felt entering a season before its even begun. We're always vaguely close to being great but not close enough. And that's because Wenger is a muppet, not because Arsenal are actually a team close to being great.

The one silver lining is that we're not as monotonous as the England national team.

The other downer is that Ozil and Sanchez both deserve better than this. They shouldn't be waisting their prime years at a Club that's not wiling to 'push the boat out' to compete. Probably why neither one has signed a new contract yet.

I would take both of those at Chelsea in a heartbeat.
    Great players.
Wenger should appoint a defence and a striker to match their abilities.

Loads of names now coming out of the hat that we're being linked with.
As predicted desperation now taking over.
Does anyone want to come and play for Wenger?

Are we done in the transfer market? What an utterly disappointing window this has been.

    Niall Quinn says:
'Watching Arsene Wenger in these last few seasons has been like watching an old man who thinks he can still do all the newfangled dance moves while still wearing his sensible old-man shoes. He can't and sometimes it hurts just to watch him try. Yesterday, on the first day of a brand new season, it was especially cruel'
Wenger has now become a stubborn old guy that just does it his way and sod everybody else.
That would be fine if his way was working.

Well if holding back a few million is the priority I think that says a lot about the kind of striker they'll be looking at

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS AGAIN?? Why are we bargain hunting??? I thought from 2 years ago we had the 'financial muscle to compete'.

...were doing the old 05-12 arsenal tactic of paying no money for underperforming bargains.

AW: Mr Llorente, come on let's get this sorted, I'll give you £20m for Mustafi.

ML: Fine with me, done deal Arsene.

AW: Oh... Ok **** that was easy... Actually, no, make it £18m?

ML: Eh? You just said £20m? Well £18m is not ideal but we need the money so ok.

AW: Jesus, you'd accept that too? ****. Hmm, changed my mind again, make it £16m Manuel?

ML: Arsene, I just can't go that low, he's an international defender for the world champions.

AW: Manuel, come on, meet me half way?

ML: So £17m then Arsene? I could do that if we add on a few performance based fees?

AW: I was more thinking £16m and 1p?

ML: Look, you either pay up or you shut up.

AW: Well I tried. If you won't accept my final offer there's nothing I can do.

    SEPT 1ST PRESS CONFERENCE.
AW: We did all we could. We offered good money for several players but the value in the market is tough. But I believe we have ze belief and mental strength with my current large squad to challenge.

Imagine next year....then Alexis and Ozil got 1 year left and 1 or 2 of them will leave. Then we will have no pulling power to our club. Wenger wont be here so the little pulling power he has/had is gone too.

Don't think Wenger has much pulling power now as is shown by the problems he has in getting top players in.
Also not willing to pay the going rate doesn't help.

No pulling power or too stubborn to compromise his frugal approach? I want a football coach, not a bloody bank manager!

The Club still has a lot of pulling power. A regular in the Champions League, 60,000 capacity Stadium, great training facilities and situated right in the heart of Europes greatest City (IMO)

We just don't wanna pay the required transfer fees.
