Any way you look at it he chose Town over Leeds and thats the end of it, Whether it turns out hes a good acquisition remains to be seen as it does with Stockdale. The fact that 2 players have chosen to come to Suffolk instead of Leeds needs looking at from your point of view, I suggest you take a good look at yourselves first.

Stockdale didn't want to go to you. The only reason he didn't come to us is because Fulham threw in a £500k fee on the point of the deal being completed, so we pulled out.

No one is saying you shouldn't have debate and disagree on things, I'm all for it, but it often spills over into personal insults and petty arguments, something that the bbc 606 turned into.

Let me know if you think a thread's being derailed and I'll see what I can do. I must have missed some of this stuff because the only real discord I've seen has been with people accusing others of being WUMs and, on the odd occasion, locking horns with non-Leeds fans.

TBH it doesn't bother me. I don't go onto other teams boards anyway. You're right though it only seems to happen when fans from other teams come onto the Leeds site that it kicks off. No change there so..lol

As I said earlier he chose Town and not Leeds for whatever the reason, get over it.

So insightful. Don't bother gracing us with your presence again if hollow nothing-arguments are all you have to offer.

Listen to the Leeds boys givin it large, you will end up mid table at best. The glory days have gone, never to return, get over it!!
ITFC are now a more attractive prospect than Leeds, players know there is more chance of a successful season playing for Ipswich, tbh it seems like you guys couldn't attract VD!!!!

So you genuinely think it's nothing to do with money? How naive.

I don't think it's to do with money.

If we couldn't afford him, why go for him in the first place? It's a loan so it'll be a question of meeting however much of his wages Blackburn want.

I believe it's simply down to the fact that he didn't want to play for Grayson, the same with Lee Bowyer. Both players spoke to him at length, and we all know the more talking Grayson does, the worse he comes across.

Because we didn't know we couldn't afford him until we made an approach and found out what Blackburn's demands were.

    More unproven and unprovable speculation.

If we couldn't meet Blackburn's demands then why did it get as far as us talking to the player?

Well it's not unprovable if you can contact Lee Bowyer and he gives an honest reply.

Are you saying Grayson comes across well in the media?

This is true. From what his agent said in the press, it seems Andrews chose Ipswich on the basis of them having spent more in the transfer market this summer and thereby looking like a more ambitious side. No doubt you'll blame Grayson for that but it's as clear as day to me that after spunking 7m on the East Stand and after all that other money over the last couple of years from cup ties, player compensation and other income magically disappearing, Bates is the one we should be blaming for this particular transfer, as we haven't had the funds to make ourselves look competitive in the market, as this was apparently the yardstick Andrews and his representative were judging by. I do concede that we probably had enough to cough up this fella's wages, now I think about it, though Grayson cannot be proved to be the person at fault.

I can't and nor can anyone on this forum. It is therefore unprovable, or as close to unprovable as something can get if you have any common sense.

No. Then again, I know quite a few people who are confident as anything in a man-to-man conversation who've been reduced to cliche-firing, shaking wrecks when faced with a public audience. It's another shot wide of the mark.

If we'd signed Lee Bowyer we'd look more ambitious to Andrews, we could afford both of them, neither wanted to come. From what I've seen of how Simon Grayson comes across and how he treats players, it's my firm belief that a lot of players wouldn't want to play for him.

I'm not talking about how Grayson comes across on camera, I'm talking about his considered views when he's sat down one to one with a journalist. The man talks nonsense!

Maybe we would, though I'm glad we didn't sign Bowyer because he stabbed Leeds in the back and ****ed us out of millions as well as sullying our name. There's no evidence that Keith Andrews rejected Leeds because of Grayson; all we know is that his agent came out and mentioned transfer activity as the deal-breaker. Bates is at fault if there's been no transfer activity: the buck stops with him. Even in the unlikely event that Grayson was point-blank refusing to spend money on decent players, Bates should be forcing him or Gwyn Williams to do that. Either way, it's bad chairmanship which has cost us this signing (whether that be a blessing in disguise or not).

He has to tow the party line and of course his media training to talk like a thick person will kick in whenever journos are involved. That's the point of it; so that nobody is any the wiser about anything.

He doesn't play dumb, he says ridiculous things that make him and the club look bad.

You don't have to try and turn it back around to Bates every time. Bates looks bad either way because he appointed Grayson and is sticking by him.
