There's always a spat between those two. I think this one started because Lineker congratulated Whitlock and pretty much told Piers to **** off in the same tweet, and of course Piers took the bait. Lineker regularly gets him to bite, it's quite funny actually.
Lineker called him 'Tubs' Piers reeled off a list of things Lineker hadn't won, so Lineker reeled off a list of things he had, including a few golden boots Morgan is a proper bellend.
Exactly. London is a much easier City to get to compared to Rio, and I think we probably have a greater passion for the Olympics in general (as well as more money per person) than the average Brazilian does. That's usually how it goes, Lineker makes Morgan look a fool on a regular basis.
First gold, yes. Brian Phelps got a diving bronze in Rome. I remember it (fairly) well. But Greg Louganis (US) had the prettiest nails.
Michael Phelps has matched a record apparently held by Leonidas of Rhodes by winning 12 individual titles. That record was set in 152BC. He could still break it at this Olympics. He's had enough of breaking modern Olympic records, now he's moved onto ancient records
Katherine Grainger and Victoria Thornley have won silver in the womens' double sculls, that's Grainger's 4 silver in 5 games. They were winning until the final few meters.
Got back home from Rio early this morning & have to say overall we enjoyed our week there.... A bit peeved to have one of our cases nicked from the airport as it had both phone & camera in it but both were only cheap (bought just to take with us)...we still had plenty of clothes etc with us & lost no money or valuables... The event was different to London 2012, much more laid back but as has been noted there were lots of empty seats.....some venues almost 80% empty but when you look at the cost of tickets it was not a shock.......seats in the areas covered by TV cameras were costing as much as many in Brazil earn in a month, pleased we were there to see us win our first Gold in the pool though & to see the torch lit before it went into Rio. Just time to sort things out before a first trip out on my new wheels back to the IOM for the Classic TT .......hard to imagine how I used to fit in a 60 hour working week
Florence and Hounslow have just got silver in the Men's Canoe Double for the second Olympics in a row.
The GB rugby team are in the final to face Fiji, so they've guaranteed themselves at least a Silver medal.
