Yes, it probably is. I feel nothing when England play, except annoyed that they have stopped PL football for this **** show.
It's not about knowing anything. You either feel pride about a national team (and therefore care) or you don't. National football bores me. Friendlies are boring. Qualifiers are boring. They break up the PL which annoys me. Most tournament matches are boring. Euro 2016 was boring. WC14 was mostly boring.
You don't feel any pride in your country? Or it's teams Didn't used to be that way. And it shouldn't be that way now!...
Why??? Because it's the national team, ffs!.... Jesus H, have things really got that bad over there that nobody gives a flying **** about the national team?
England football team... In the words of Alan Partridge - I could not give a f*****g s**t. Get over yourself. People who don't think the same as you does not equal things being really bad.
Well, I disagree, completely! No ****ing guts and no ****ing pride! Rugby, my real game, there is massive pride in the English team! They take priority, as it should be...
Says the man who ****ed off to live in Spain You have a bulldog tattoo on your chest by any chance? Oi Oi Saveloy!
You really are that ****ing thick, aren't you. I live in Spain because I choose to. I also have property in London - in Chelsea, funnily enough! Just because I choose to spend the majority of my time here doesn't mean that I have ceased to be English. No, I don't have a bulldog on my chest, or any other tattoos. I do, however, feel very sad over what a shambles our national side has been allowed to become. And, even more sad for those, like you, that apparently don't give a flying **** so long as their gangster keeps pumping his ill gained dosh into the club!
And I am thick? Inger-lund Inger-lund Inger-luuuuund!! Oi Oi, ya ****!! I'll fackin' do ya! please log in to view this image
The difference between Spain and England is our whole approach to the technical side of the game. The fault in our failure is not really on how many home grown players we bring through but instead on how well they're coached. We could bring through a couple of hundred English youngsters into the prem but if they're not good enough then what's the point? The national side is **** because at a certain level, our English players are technically not good enough to perform playing with each other. No surprise that playing with foreigners in the league they perform better. Why? Because they fill the technical gap our players can't sadly. That's why we need a Pogba.
100% agree with this. Often argue against the "too many foreigners in the PL" argument for similar reasons; if the English players were good enough it wouldn't matter. The cream always raises etc. We're yet to see the impact on youth level changes made a few years ago (no competitive football under 9yrs of age) so things may improve over the next 3-6 years as that come to fruition. However, we've not done enough either. Look at the number of qualified coaches in this country compared to others. Why are parents being charged £6+ for a single child to attend 45min football session when the PL are getting multi-billions in tv money?
That's my point. Is 'the cream' being allowed to rise? I'm not so sure it always is. I agree about the coaching aspect, however. It's not just the amount of it, but the quality of it. As Trebs said, a lot of English players lack skills that are basic, fundamental requirements here in Spain. Such as one touch control, etc.
Indeed, there's many talented young players here too. This misconception that only Italian or Spanish etc have talented youth. What is happening is their God given skills are/ have been trained out of them so they can become another faceless cog in a system that clearly doesn't work.
I've no doubt they possess the althleticism. Some possess God given talent that can't be taught. But in the majority of cases the emphases in training are all wrong. As I said, here things like one touch control are a basic requirement of a pro player.
We see young foreign player rise so why not? Crazy as it sounds, this countries football is suffering from the over protective nature of modern society too. When I were a boy (just call me Uncle Albert), I'd get up, have breakfast and ****off out all day until the street lights came on. Then it was home dinner, bath and bed. What did we do during the 9+ hours in between? Played football! (Amongst building dens, swings, zip wires, etc Okay, there was no coaching but practice is practice. Playing against older kids that were better than you certainly helped. #sidetrackedranting
Same here, mate. When I was little we literally played in the street. Then later, jumpers for goalposts, etc. Played until it got dark. But then we didn't have mobiles, play stations, there wasn't really even any daytime telly, as such. But the coaching is all wrong over there. Why did we have to go to Portugal to find an English kid who's been trained properly? That kids now an England player and one of the best DMs in the PL. But different now.
