Skysports.com understands Sven Goran Eriksson's ambitious Leicester have bid for Reading striker Shane Long. West Brom, Fulham, Everton, Newcastle and West Ham are all also interested after the 24-year-old scored 28 goals in all competitions last season. Long has previously admitted West Ham would be something he would have to consider after reports of a £7million bid, but he has also maintained he is happy at Reading. Leicester, though, are favourites for the Championship title after Eriksson's summer squad remodel. Eriksson has previously admitted Long is a target, but Leicester have now taken the decision to make an offer and the Swede's summer spending could top £15m as a result.
Just when you thought this transfer market couldnt get anymore exciting for us Foxes - What ever the outcome, im bloody loving this!
-1 Proud for lack of pun. What you should have said was: "Good news for us because Leeroy Lita now beLONGs to Swansea"
I think we will have a proLONGed wait for a striker. It doesn't sound too promising at the moment with Premiership teams interested and the fact he is interested in going to West Ham. If he didn't go there there's a good chance he wouldn't say 'so LONG' to Reading. And for no reason I'm going to say obLONG.
Cully, Thats old news from earlier, we have so lay back, enjoy and peel your grapes. Shane ! Come to Uncle Svennis
Even if its offered, it could be a LONG wait until we hear anything, but hopefully hes given a LONG contract and a LONG run in our first team. ... who are we looking to sign again ...
Rumours going round that the bid's been accepted. I;m very worried by what the Reading fans are saying.
Fair point. Basically that he is a massive confidence player and they think last season was a flash in the pan. Just sounded very similar to Fryatt. And I didn't know he'd been with them for 6 seasons - last was the first one where he scored over 10 goals and the first they've been impressed. Just to put it into context - find me one Bristol fan that doesn't rate Maynard? I just feel we've had a massive decision to make, and we've picked the wrong one. Sorry to be negative!
Emilio - Nothing signed yet? this maybe a ploy to get Maynard to sort himself out and choose the rightious path, we may not end up with LONG?
Don;t forget he has been in the Prem with them 7m is too much, I agree. But everyone thought Danny Graham was a steal at 3m, but what had he done before? I feel we need instant success and I think we are more likely to get that from Long rather than Maynard because of his dodgy injury record Have faith in Sven, Emilio
