I get what you mean but honestly, I think Shearer would've been magnificence itself at OT. I regard him as the greatest English striker of all time. He had the lot. Teddy was total class though so I'm not that disappointed - plus would we have won the CL in 99 without him? Would we have even got there? Ifs buts & maybes but one thing remains clear - the rest of the Prem have been playing catch-up for 20 years. Whenever they do, United just step it up once more & blow them away. It's vital to buy when you're on top & thank God we've done that. One more CM would be nice though.
Definitely agree, but then the club wasn't flush for cash back then what with the cost of expanding the stadium. So had we gotten Shearer instead of Sheringham then we might not have been able to also afford Yorke or Stam. At which point you start wondering whether Shearer, magnificent as he was, would have been worth missing out on two of the players who played such a big role in 99 and the hattrick. Or maybe Shearer would have won five PLs, three European Cups and the World Cup had he been at Utd under SAF. Who knows. But my point is the same as yours - no matter how many players we miss out on over the years we are generally always have the players to make sure that the ones to beat come April or May. Evening all. The whole dynamic of the side would have been different with Shearer but I can't honestly say we'd have been less successful, that wouldn't have been possible he was so good. The Yorke/Cole partnership was integral to '99 but we should have won a couple more really and Shearer could have helped make that happen. Anyway, how's tricks? I'm pissing money up the wall on food and stuff, there is literally **** all around for miles and I've had to trek off to rural post offices for some dinner where it costs a fiver for a pre packed butty and a pasty. Nice pasties though they are, you can not have such stuff every day. I will be a fat **** really soon if I don't cut it out. Self sufficient next week though so I'll be making my own food. **** knows what I'll do for entertainment, will have to get back into books. The pub down the road is superb though, just on Exmoor and the food and beer are marvelous. I'll be on my arse skint if I go there often though. Last night; King Prawn Thai red followed by sticky toffeee pudding and devonshire clotted cream! And three pints of local ale. Roll on 20 stone Gav.

I've porked out at various stages of my life but I'm such a screaming fanny that I've just got to do something about it for my own petty vanity. I remember seeing meself in a photo once, wearing a helmet as we were going canyoning in Switzerland & I looked like a proper fat bloke. People were mistaking me for the actual fat bastard in the group. And this dude was one fat ****. From that day on (cue overly motivational music with me hurdling midgets) I trained my arse off and got down to my fighting weight. Didn't last though. I got a woman and blobbed out all over again.
