Not sure why he's felt the need to comment 3 times on them in the space of a week

Very classy from the Special One, as ever. This'll be the northern version of cruising up and down the King's Road in a gold plated Bugatti that never gets out of 2nd gear.

What he really means is that Wenger and Klopp would never allow themselves to be mugged off for £89m for a player worth £30m

The board at Arsenal said only last week that Wenger could spend whatever he wants. Maureen got mugged off for Pogba. Don't get me wrong, he's a good player, but he's not worth anywhere near £89m.

One of the most pointless statements ever made as they know it will never be taken advantage of.

Maybe, but the point being made was that the board have the money and aren't restricting Wenger's access to it as Kustard was claiming.

There's only two clubs in the world that are in the top10 for value, riches, revenues, wage budgets and large stadia that regularly fail to challenge for the big two trophies. That's us and Liverpool.

Liverpool are in a currently weak position but given their financial strength are able to set high targets for their managers and attract managers and players of high calibre with relative ease. If a manager underperforms they are chopped. They now have a young proven manager at the helm who has made the same set of players (not chosen by himself) objectively stronger since taking over from Rodgers and has already taken a frankly mediocre squad to two finals.

Arsenal on the other hand have a decrepit buffoon at the helm who has made us stagnate for a decade with persistent refusal to address squad weaknesses and has only managed two FA cups since 2006 using a team he has moulded and built from scratch.

Liverpool, our only other ally in underachievement compared to resources, are doing what they can to address their slide. They have the finances and use them. They've just spent loads this transfer window. It's easy to sit back and laugh at who they've bought and snigger at overpaying... But that's surely borne out of jealousy simply because they spend within their means and we don't. We stick with what we know. Winning next to nothing but saving a bit of money and releasing media soundbites that we are a fantastically and sustainably run club. We are no better financially better run or financially worse off than Liverpool. Yes we've done slightly better than them for a long time now (though a lot of that is down to the misconception that top 4 is an achievement on its own, that Wenger has hoodwinked many into thinking is a trophy in itself. They've actually won more silverware than us since our league title in May 2004)...but the fact remains that we should be investing as much as Liverpool are right now and that we should therefore be should be doing even BETTER than we are right now relative to them.

There is absolutely no excuse for our disgraceful transfer record.

Irrelevant to the fact that Pogba is not worth anywhere near £89m

Ah, I forgot that you were the one who decided on the official worth of all players.

No need to act childish about it. Pogba simply isn't worth £89m. Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo maybe, Pogba is nowhere near that level.

Pogba is nowhere near the finished article, IMO. The price is mean to reflect his potential. And, if that potential is realised, the fee will probably look reasonable in a couple of years. If not, then it's an expensive mistake.

Anyone remember when Utd, despite being annoying, nevertheless had a bit of class? Seems like a long time ago now.

And talking of class, you know the season's starting when you hear Arsenal fans calling for the head of their most successful manager of all time, before a ball has even been kicked.

What a bizarre statement. There's nothing childish about it. You're trying to make out that you are the decider of a player's worth. Which is gubbins.

    The board said that.

And then Wenger tapped the side of his nose, smiled and walked off in a casual, confident and knowing manner whilst muttering "Ronaldo. Wenger knew."
