32 goals in 44 games last season. but being linked with Liverpool, Arsenal and Leicester so doubt he'd want to join us
Looks like it'll be a sad day today then...goodbye ash, massive best wishes.that leaves 4 (I think )of the promotion squad left it really does feel like the end of a special era....Ashley williams THANK YOU
It's the WoL I know, but reassuring words coming from the yanks.. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/swansea-city-vow-push-despite-11727683
What actions ? They haven't exactly done anything at the club from what I can see. They have just left Huw run things in the way he does.
Lack of actions - we have one official new signing since they took over, with 2/3 of our best players out the door. Lets see them back up their words with equal or better class of players coming in, and when they have actually 'invested money' whether it be in playing squad or facilities - we will know what their intentions are. Words are cheap.
We have sold two of our better players for about £32m, and have bought two in for for about £21m , those deals are not all concluded as yet. And throughout the buying process of the club I've said that they will not invest money into the playing staff beyond what's been planned, so why are you surprised that they haven't ? On other things like the stadium, well they been in power about a month, what do you expect them to do in that timeframe ?
I'm going to wait until the end of the transfer window until I make my mind up on the new owners. One thing I do now is that they have some replacements to make. Baston will be a huge boost to our team though.
I am making a simple fact - they can claim what they want to try to appease fans on sales of important players - but until there is factual evidence they are investing their own money into the club - many will remain unconvinced. I will wait to see before judging their motives - but so far, imo it is not looking great. It is early days - but I would expect a strong stance on protecting important assets from poaching. I can understand Williams more than Ayew - Williams has given 8 years, and wanted the move. Ayew is 1 year into his contract, and we should have made a stance - other clubs do it. When you think about it - even if we sign this Baston guy - we are still up about £15m with the sale of Williams. Most clubs would have £20m or so available from the enhanced TV deal for squad investment. So £35m more 'should' be available without a penny invested from the US owners.
We aren't most clubs though , no other club has made money over the past 5 seasons . Spending for the sake of spending isn't investing . Top priority was holding Siggy , and that was done short and sweet . Adding a striker was next priority and we got a good one . Signing Fer was a good bit of business , as was Van Der Hoorn . The window hasn't shut yet , let's see who else comes in . We shouldn't put a negative spin on making money on Ayew and Williams , they wanted to go so we made some money . For me , I like the idea of us carring on the way we got to this League , no overspending on players but getting results and infrastructure .
I don't think Top Priority was keeping Siggy. I don't know if we've got a good striker yet....Llorente missed an open goal already didn't he ? Let's not jump the gun on whether we've bought well yet. As far as making no money goes, we sold a striker valued at 20 Million and replaced him with him with someone cheaper.......
Selling a player who doesn't fit our style or who wants a new challenge is the correct action and buying an experienced player for the short term and one with potential is the right way to go. We are not in the position to pay a really big fee for one player. Whether a player is signed for £5 million or £100 million it's always a gamble until he actually starts playing That's part of the entertainment of football. I saw enough of Llorente on Saturday to think he was worth the punt. I have a feeling our signings are not finished yet.
Sign this striker that we reportedly had a bid turned down with last night and bring in another defender and that would be a good start. But as of yet, they've not invested a penny of their own money into the squad.
That's piss poor if it's only £9 million. How can it be that when we've already rejected a £10 million bid?
