I still expect Brady to leave, which would free up the funds necessary for a striker. To have Brady, Naismith, Pritchard, Hoolahan, Canos, Jarvis, Josh, Jacob and Maddison essentially competing for 3 spots each week is excessive. I suppose if a decent bid comes in for Naismith we could sell him instead (assuming Brady is happy enough to stay), which might free up the necessary funds another way.

Thus far this window we've essentially balanced the books (£10m for Redmond, versus £8m Pritchard and ~£2m Canos), so I guess it depends on whether we went into the window with a transfer budget or not. It wouldn't surprise me if our January expenditure and wage bill means there isn't a great deal in the kitty.

I thought it was £12m for Redmond? I may be wrong!

Don't forget the £550k that we received for RvW :emoticon-0136-giggl

Didn't see the Naismith to Sunderland transfer coming, but if true apparently there is mention of a buy-out clause.
If he cost NCFC a reported £8.5m, do we presume that his transfer price will be in the region of £10-12m? Not sure about this rumour, but he wasn't any great shakes in the Prem and bearing in mind what Mr Moxey stated yesterday we could be saying bye-bye to Mr Naismith before 31st August. The sale of both Brady and Naismith could pay for 2 decent strikers as clearly we need to sell before we can buy - at least that's what I think Mr Moxey was implying yesterday?
I hope it's not true, but reading that reminded me of something I read when he signed for us, about a release clause if relegated. If so, could the release clause even be under what we paid? Could have been why he signed for a club who were 50/50 going to stay up at the time. If he put in assurances that he could leave easy if a Prem club came in for him.

Maybe I'm a boy from Norfolk but I see a bookie here saying oh look Moyes used to manage Naismith "start a rumour, open the book " some mugs will put the children's clothes money on it !

Don't know if the Naismith rumour has any legs, but listening to Canary Call, he and Hoolahan had an excellent partnership on Saturday and he was offering advice to Jacob, so I don't mind him staying. On the other hand, if we can recoup what we spent on him or make a profit .....

Very possibly, also possible that managers look to the players they use to get on with to try and form a dressing room that supports and backs him.

Either way, I hope he stays.

I'd rather he stay then try to recoup the money, I just feel like he could play a big part for us this season and I know he has his critics on here, but he does have tons of experience that will be helpful to our team and youngsters.

Strange for this Stones move after the season he just had. He was pretty awful, and in an England Shirt. It will be really interesting to see what Pep gets out of him, he's potentially his kind of CB. Ball playing Defender. Could be good for England in the future to see Peps influence on him.

Everton to get Ashley Williams for £12M. That's really good value. Played a lot better in the Prem and Euros than Stones last season.

Too right. And in any case, is Sunderland really a better showcase for his - mostly latent, so far ;) talents.
Every likelihood we can swap places with them next year and he'd be no further forward. The way we played last weekend suggests a proactive and quick passing approach to this season and Sunderland have rarely been known for that. I look forward very much to watching coverage of the next game as opposed to radio, twitter, text [edit - I forgot to mention the MDT <doh>] etc, so I can run my own rule over the new-look team. <ok>

Not sure about anyone else but i will be very annoyed if Naismith leaves. Think he would be great for us this year).

Not sure Gunnersson is what we need (unless its just as back up).

Nothing on the striker front yet... hope Moxey is showing £12m for Assombalonga and a bit on Wells too!

I agree. Naismith will be a key player for us this year and if he were to leave, our chances of promotion would be hugely reduced, IMO.

See what you're saying, but with Wessi, Pritchard and Maddison all genuine contenders for the same role, it wouldn't be the end of our world.
As things stand, losing Brady and/or Olsson would be far more damaging. Just my view <ok>

Burnley and Sunderland seem realistic teams to be having a look at him. I think he should be a star in this division, so I hope he stays.

I've just seen Sunderland have agreed fees for Donald Love and Paddy McNair from United. Jose continues to clear out any Youth players who have played for the first team at some point.
