Please no!! I can cope with Euro values for players, but please let's not start using $ for football player values!! :(

Not yet. He made far too many basic errors last season to be considered outstanding at the moment. He's got huge potential and I do think he will learn a hell of a lot under Pep.

:emoticon-0100-smile I am so going to blame Windows 10 and it's automatic update bollocks malarky for this one.

Anyway we only use dollar signs when they are 'soccer' players.

Wouldn't worry too much (yet), Ashley Williams will fill that gap.

Great buy by city, massive potential and only 22. I have no doubt he will progress to be a great CB under pep.

How about we unleash a few signings of our own now Les?

I can't see José going there. Makes no sense at all.

Hopefully he doesn't turn out to be the next Jack Rodwell.

Depends how close he was to Koeman and how stupid the money gets. I think Les would be reluctant for him to go to join the LD, so he may price him out of the deal. And Fonte has said he might be interested in a club in the CL....so not Everton. I think the lack of comment from Jose suggests he is open to a move, but all depends on what offers change from vague interest to a concrete proposal (mmm....brings back memories of Cortese<devil>). In all probability, Jose will stay in my opinion, but more from lack of a decent offer than from unwillingness on his part.

Hopefully with Everton getting Williams the rumours will die down. No chance of him going to Everton anyway though

Be interesting to see if Everton spend their rumoured war chest or if they end up funding their purchases with sales....my bet would be closer to the latter.

I know this might sound very naive especially given how most Saints fans (including me) lapped up Koeman and his "I don't break contracts" tripe but hasn't Fonte spoken about how he enjoys the special status he has with the club and fans considering how he has been there for each step of the rise from league 1 ?

If he leaves now he'll be remebered fondly but if he stays he'll go out a Saints legend

Swans have accepted a bid from Everton for Williams - £12m apparently.

So much for a 100m war chest when they have to sell to buy.

He's also negotiating a new deal with us - rumours/offers strengthen his hand there. IMO he'll only leave for a CL club or perhaps a retirement back in Portugal. Neither of those have actually been strongly linked with him, but his new deal will probably make him the highest paid player by a wide margin, plus things like us paying for his coaching badges (IIRC, he's said he's doing them). Basically securing and investing in his future - I don't blame him at all, he's coming up to retirement as a player. A last payday & stable career path from here is what I'd want too. A CL team could provide that with the money - we can provide that by providing him stability and a path to the back room, but jumping to another mid table Prem club would be a huge risk for him, but perfect for leverage with us.
