With Jozabed and Eddy Silvestry sounding like they are very likely additions in the next few days it's time to get a few Strikers in, if Slav likes Mounie and thinks he fits go and get him also get in Bamford or Wilson on loan. No excuses no with the McCormack money.
In terms of fee apparently he had a €4 million release clause which we activated, not sure on the exchange rate these days but probably £3.5 million.
L’Equipe say we already had a bid of €3m rejected by Montpellier, but have gone back with an offer of €5m excluding bonuses.
Slavi told Sky today, "We want to sign a central defender, a central mid field player, and of course a striker".
Media in Spain are reporting the Jozabed deal as confirmed, just waiting for it to make the hour time difference to Motspur park. On a worse note the Sky rumours page have Burnley interested in Tom Cairney, if we let him go I'm officially giving up.
The Burnley rumour about Cairney started from a very dubious twitter site - do you call them ITK's?? Anyway would take it with a huge pinch of salt. Good news about Jozabed, Cookie. On the Munie front it sounds as though they're holding out for "an offer they can't refuse". And no doubt knowledge of the money we got for McCormack won't lessen that view.
He was on the balcony at the Cottage last night (to the left of the door) please log in to view this image
According to French media, the deal is off. They say our final offer was 4m euros plus 2m euros as add ons but Montpelier want more. Word doing the rounds is that we've turned to Nahki Wells of Huddersfield. please log in to view this image Quite a contrast from Mounie's 6'3" to Wells' 5'7". The 26yr old Bermudan got 17 goals from 39 starts for Huddersfield last season. He didn't play for them today in their 2-1 win over Brentford (tee hee!!!). Think he may be injured. Derby were in for him earlier but backed off because Huddersfield were asking silly money. Although he's got 2 years left on his contract I just can't see us paying something like twice what we were offering for Mounie.
Given the choice between Mounie and Wells I'd probably prefer Wells. Mounie would be a risk as we don't really know much about him and its a lot of money for an unknown. We know Wells scores at this level, 17 goals last season at Huddersfield is good going. No disrespect to them but I think we're a step up from Huddersfield and will create more chances throughout a season, 17 goals at Huddersfield could translate to 25+ at Fulham.
Reports today saying we're looking at signing Zach Clough from Bolton, which would cost us around £2m. I'd be happy for us to get him as I think hes a great young player but I still think as well as him we would need a more recognised and experienced striker. Clough would be a good investment at £2m and no doubt we'd make a good profit on him 2-3 years down the line but for the here and now I don't think him alone is enough to get us to where we want to be this season.
Yes please to Zach Clough! I suspect he'd do better as part of the three behind the centre forward, rather than as the main striker (meaning we'd still need another main striker).
Apparently the delay in announcing his signing is that the Club are waiting for "International clearance".
Another name on the list is Tom Lees of Shef W ,but along with us are AV Burnley M Boro QPR + others 3m is the sum bandied about., dont know a lot about this guy but he seems to be highly rated.
He was mentioned early on, rosc. Wednesday have just are offered him a wage hike to £25k per week so guess we can take it he's not moving. Source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-000-week-deal-fend-Burnley-Derby-Fulham.html
Apparently Jozabed trained with the boys today! Massive yes to Zac Clough from me for £2 million get him in quick. Lee's is a very solid centre half but thought he was Sheffield Wednesday's captain?? Would be surprised if he left them even for a bit more money they will be up there this season. Vydra I would be happy with just at the right price, if the rumours are true that Watford rejected £8 mill and wanted £10 mill I would walk away even 8 is past my max which I had a £7 mill
Vydra is worth nowhere near £10m in my opinion, I don't think hes done enough to justify such a price tag. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I think he had like 1 good season at Watford 2-3 years ago, think it was in their promotion year. Since then hes had spells at West Brom and Reading, neither of which particular successful. Personally I'd still rather have Nahki Wells, at the right price!
Would have to look it up Fabio but pretty sure Vydra has had three seasons on loan at Watford in total over two separate spells and all three have been good, West Brom he hardly got a sniff but remember him getting a couple wouldn't be surprised if his goals to 90 minutes played was actually ok.... Reading was the one bad season but he still hit 9 goals... I would def take him.
With you Cookie, but not at that price. Word on the social media street is that we're back looking at Chris Martin of Derby. Reckon he could do the job. please log in to view this image The 27yr old has 53 goals in 117 League starts for them. With 2 years left on his contract he's valued around £3m.
Gordon Strachan seemed to prefer him to McCormack for some reason Liam Moore seems to be available from Leicester, tweeted not been given a squad number. Bristol City interested.
