Wasn't at the game obviously so this is a view from the TV. Straight up saying that but even after a sleep I'm still quite pissed off and feel I need to vent without reading through every other thread. Haven't actually seen anyone's opinions on this game whatsoever.

Green - 6 - I actually thought the first goal wasn't entirely his fault (despite the commentator saying all game that it was). He coulda done better, yes but the ball was out of his reach and no other leeds player even attempted to get to the ball while it was in the air. Other than that made some smart saves and the other goals weren't his fault.
    Berardi - 3 - Simply shocking
Bamba - 2 - Worse performance I have seen from a captain that I can remember. Absolutely awful in almost every aspect except for maybe a couple tackles and a couple blocks. Was even worse in possession than he was defensively.
Bartley - 4 - Again. Terrible performance, also doesn't seem capable of playing out from the back. Panics under pressure
Taylor - 4 - One of his worse performances. Got beat a few times and his passing constantly didn't hit feet.
Ronaldo Vieira - 7 - One of the best players in a leeds shirt. Passing was good, looked composed when players surrounded him and did very little wrong imo. Wasn't actually a pen as well I thought.
Diagouraga - 3 - Absolutely ****. Turning circle of a bus, gave the ball away way too much and terrible defensively. Looked completely different from last season.
Grimes - 2 - Anonymous. When he did have the ball he did nothing. Looks like a worse version of Mowatt. Didn't link midfield and attack at all
    Roofe - 5 - Tried but failed.
Dallas - 6 - Worked hard and actually thought most of the stuff we did good on the ball was a direct result from him.
Wood - 4 - Harsh marking but he was isolated. No service to speak of. did win a couple headers I counted but most he got nowhere near and I think any player would've struggled playing up front by themselves with the rest of the team playing so poorly.

Coyle - 8 - Our best player I thought. Handled there young speedy winger very well when he came on. Good in possession too. Didn't think the third goal was his fault at all. Bamba should've attacked the ball in the air instead of backing off and letting our smallest player mark their biggest.
Antonnsson - 5 - Didn't even know he was on the pitch for the first 10 minutes he was there but grew into it more. Should've scored but it was a well timed run and think he could do well for us.
Sacko - 7 - By far our brightest light going forward when he came on. Showed pace and skill but lacking in that end delivery. Didn't have long enough. Should start next game, could do some damage in this division.

This was embarassing against a QPR side that ain't gonna be doing much this season imo. We were **** rather than them being good. How we can be that bad in possession is genuinely worrying. Not many positives to take other than Vieira, Coyle and Sacko.

To evidence how generously you have marked them watch the first half again. Greens head has completely gone.
    Looks like he has PTSD!

Nobody was worth more than a 4, and giving 6 to Dallas only raises one question, Are you shagging his Mrs!

<laugh> I think you need to be as real as possible and that goes both ways.

To defend my ratings, Green wasn't really at fault for the first goal. It's out of his reach and Bamba should've jumped and headed the ball away instead of just standing there. To even get to that point was shocking defending. So I'm being a little lenient on him for that and the rest of the game he made some pretty good saves. 6 isn't a good rating by the way.

Dallas worked very hard if nothing else. He shows a desire that is lackin in every other player on the pitch. He isn't technically brilliant but he's reliable and holds shape, there is value in that. He can't be expected to change a game however, we need more than him and no one else seemed capable of linking up with him. It was a good ball through to put Antonsson away as well

Several new faces, new coach with a new style and a rushed preseason that was thrown together at the last minute.

Cellino should have sorted the Evans situation out after the final whistle of our last game last season.

He should have had the new guy in place before the players left for their holidays.

Instead we had to wait and watch coaches turn us down with absolutely nothing in place and no plan.

Yesterday it showed we were caught out well short, will Cellino learn to be more patient or will this merry go round continue, we all know the answer to that.

Dallas will never be good enough for a promotion chasing side along with Murphy,Mowatt and a few others. Dallas works hard but rarely takes a man on and beats him. I fail to see how he's classed as a winger. Sako showed what a winger should be like when he came on. Hope the lad can get some consistency and a run in the side.
Monk has to take some blame for the defeat, putting in players like Berra and Dallas who have barely trained with the squad. As every season we have a big problem in midfield, we need a classy experienced player there.

Agree with everything except for a few differences.

Disagree about Green, he was flapping around like an old womans lips with her teeth out for both goals. 2nd goal, the angle was so acute he should've had the ball or saved it one handed, instead he was flapping all over place.

To me Green is an animated keeper, meaning he goes through the motions when attempting to save a ball rather than actually going for the ball, I saw this in the pre season games too.

Disagree about Berardi, for someone who just came back from an injury he was doing ok, his running was ok and so was his side stepping etc, didn't see a limp and thought he was handling their winger quite well. Granted their winger was fast but Berardi seemed to be handling him ok, their winger didn't seem to be doing anything too dangerous. He wasn't happy about being subbed either, mistake by Monk imo.

Which brings me on to Coyle, the lad did ok, can't fault him on that but his inexperience was showing.

He played a lot of balls backwards, gave passes away and left the winger on his own a few times. He played on adrenalin and enthusiasm, and there is a big gap between him and Berardi, but he is one for the future.

Just a quick mention on Bartley, he's tall and gangly, he looked to be clumsy a lot of the time.

Viera, he was part of our midfield that allowed QPR to dance their way through on many occasions, so he loses 5 points on that. Another one that played on enthusiasm and adrenalin. His passing wasn't brilliant but he did make some good passes, another one that gave some passes away.

Was it a penalty? hard to say, close penalty appeals given are always going to divide opinion. Nowadays strikers know when to drop. Once inside penalty area and they feel a touch, they know when to drop and hope, then it's up to ref. Viera is one for future but like Coyle still has a lot to learn.

Wood, ship him out, he did next to nothing, he's not a prolific impact striker. Antonsson did more in the time he was on than Wood did the whole game.

The commentator mentioned Wood wasn't really in game, and went on to say Wood is the type of player you have to give the ball too, he's not the type to mix and mingle, he used different words but along those lines.

Antonsson, looks like he's going to be a good find for us once he finds his feet and shooting boots, let's hope he doesn't borrow Woods.

First 10 minutes or so he was a bit quiet, also noticed by the commentator, but then he went looking for ball and got busy. Agree, it was good positioning for the shot he put just wide, and an equally good pass to send him on his way, trouble is, we don't do enough of the defence splitting passes. 2nd shot he skyed. With respects to Antonsson, I think Antenucci would have put both shots in onion bag.

Totally agree about Sacko, I too noticed his pace and skill going down the wing, even with players close to him, needs to find his feet and touch fast though.

Mention in despatches for Grimes, didn't have the best of games, again part of our midfield who let QPR do the cha cha through middle. I liked the look of his free kick though, he could be a good dead ball shooter for us if he picks his game up, I think he'll improve.

All up, it was a comical game to watch, even if it was first game of season. Bad team selection by Monk imo, bad subbing of Berardi so early. I just keep getting the funny feeling he's going to be a favourites selector.

We need 2 strikers up front, single striker never worked under Redders, Rosler or Evans, yet Monk seems to want to do the same thing. I sometimes think some managers/coaches pick popular formations rather than formations that work better for the players and team.

    Good write up Josh.....:emoticon-0148-yes:

Do you think Cellino would've had a manager in place early if one of the previous managers had said yes? I can't see how Cellino can be blamed for managers saying no to Leeds, nor for the game/loss, that responsibility lies squarely on Monk's shoulders; he was the one who said he knows how to get his team peaking for start of season......:emoticon-0148-yes:

You never can see anything wrong in what Cellino does.

If those that had turned us down had said yes it was still a long way after the season had ended. Antenucci and others have all said we are run poorly and lack of preperation showed yesterday.

Why were we turned down? Because they know Cellino is a tool and they don't want to work under him. Monk won't last, Cellino should have stuck with Evans, until we give a coach time things will never improve.

Our defeat yesterday was an under prepared team that lacked enough quality, they were brought by Cellino, picked by him OR other coaches Cellino appointed.

There isn't one thing wrong at ER there are lots and the blame has to start at the top with the decision maker just as it does in any business

Calm down Ristac, I wasn't having a go at you, there was no malice intended.

I was just making a point if one of the managers had said yes.

While you say I can never see anything wrong with Cellino, on the other hand, you don't seem to find anything right with him, so we're on level terms, just different opinions...........would you agree?

I'm not going to blame Cellino, or anyone else for everything just for the sake of blaming him.

If Cellino's a tool, why did Monk say yes?

C'mon Ristac, don't you think the latter half of that comment is a bit over top?

Calm down? I'm not angry and reading back through my post I don't see how it came over that I needed to calm down??

No, I don't see that I am biased in my opinion of Cellino, I have praised him in the past and at the end of the day he makes the decisions. He hired the likes of Redfearn and Hockaday, he is the one who never gave the likes of Evans more time.

His actions towards Ward, Redfearn, Hart and others like the players agents have contributed to us having to sell Byram, Cook and soon to follow Taylor.

Nobody remains at the club that long, Salerno, Pearson, Hart, head of recruitment guy, nobody can stomach Cellino that long.

I didn't like Evans but I thought he did a great job, I didn't want Monk. I said I will give Monk time but I also said I can't get excited about him, I said I didn't share the same optimism as others over his ability.

I pointed out Monk has never managed in this division and he inherited a team built by Laudrup. I believe Monk will come up very short but then I wouldn't have appointed him in the first place <ok>

Viera was poor, stuck way too deep to have any effect on the game, panicked for the penalty when he got caught wrong side ... Coyle was poor, stopped running with the ball every time he got to half way and then made a negative pass, hopeless on the third goal ... Bartley was good, but not backed up by Bamba ... Grimes got no ball because the two holding mids were stuck deep just in front of our defence, so there was an ocean of space for QPR to flood into ... 4-4-2 looked better, and every time we went wide QPR looked shaky ... Taylor did well to get forward on overlaps, Coyle seemed afraid to do the same ... we will get better, QPR won't

It's weird how we can both watch the same game and have completely different opinions. I don't agree with almost everything you said there.

It's football though and differing opinions is all part of that.

You don't know how cellino can blamed for managers saying no to Leeds? How about the long line of sackings and the general running of the club?? Oh by the way he had a manager in place (Evans).
