Yep, big bloody wasps half the size of your thumb that hunt other insects. Plus we get the European variety here when they have their holidays. Talk of Asian hornet's making an appearance too. Been stung by a hornet, hurt like someone stubbing a cigarette out and actually left a scar...not the most friendly insects but will mostly leave you alone.

 

Are Asian hornets those horrible black ones?

 

Yellow tip, but more black than the indigenous ones.
