Where have you been for the last few years? They all respect our club so highly, and when a perceived better offer comes in are likely to leave. I'm sure you don't need examples...

 

Sadly this is true...........Think back though.........Not all of our players think like that.....there has been some rarities...Hopefully Fonte is one of that breed.........Remember he stepped down a league to join us.......that took courage (from his point of view) I think he will think very hard about it IF ANYONE MADE AN OFFER.
My opinion is that the club will say no as they did with Spider and Wanyama...........Next year maybe different.

 

I imagine his step down to L1 with us also was commensurate with a rise in wages and the vision of the club.

He has 2 seasons left in him at the very top (I'm not convinced he is a good as people make out just now) and I think his temptation may prove too strong and at this point in his career he is likely to care slightly less about our vision, unless he gets some 'jam tomorrow ' in the form of a guaranteed coaching role...

 

Fonte has not turned his back on a good move and who can blame him at this stage of his career when he is hot, but he was asked very leading questions about top sides that probably won't come in for him. And I won't turn on him if he does go...he has done a lot for us (as we have for him) and is now approaching his twilight years in football. It has crossed our minds that we must look for his replacement soon....can we honestly see him as our first choice for more than 1-2 years. Want him to stay as he is so valuable for us in times of change and he won't leave except for a top club....and nothing has happened yet.

 

Been reading a few Watford forums and they all seem really worried about this season and really underwhelmed.

Italians never work out in the PL.

 

Just looked up Gabbiadini's height (6'1, so not a giant). This is becoming an issue in our team....I swear Clasie called Pied a short arse when he came on. And as for Cedric....has to stand on tip toe to cuddle Fonte....and he does that a lot! Unless we are hoping that the opposition will not notice our stealth players, we need a bit more height in the box.

I'd give him a shot if he wants to come to us, then he again he is a striker , so i couldn't moan. I can't see it personally though.

Yeah, Zola and Vialli were dreadful. And that Pelle bloke did nothing at all for us.

 

On the subject of Italians.... am I the only one who thinks Pogba is vastly overrated?

It's a fair comment. His Italian is school boy apparently. Over-rated? A lot of French football fans think he is.

 

I've just never seen enough to justify 50-60 million let alone £89m.

 

From what I have seen of him, he is absolutely bloody brilliant. Still so young as well. I think he will be incredible for them, personally.
