Good Morning Everyone, That was not the start that any Leeds fan wants at the beginning of a new campaign; a 3-0 drubbing against a team expected to finish mid table. A howler from Green, a dubious penalty and a goal in the last seconds of injury time sealed Leeds fate, but it very much sounds like although Leeds have a lot of improving to do, every decision went against them. Nothing to do with #Lufc Simon O'Rourke @simon_orourke 12h12 hours ago If you believe those fellas were guests of QPR, shoved in to the Leeds delegation, I have a 2nd hand chocolate fireguard to sell you. Thoughts? Will this result spur Leeds into dipping into the transfer market this week?
Morning all. Not going to think about takeovers until its time to think about takeovers. Still getting over that dire performance yesterday and as i said yesterday it was hard to take but hey its only the first game. Can you see Ipswich scoring 3 goals every game, no so stop worrying. Another Monk will be giving each player his thoughts individually and you can bet if he doesnt get the reaction he wants, they will be history. Bamba, Grimes, Dave, Green all have much to do. Roofe needs the ball and Wood needs supply. Midfield need to be a unit pushing up not leaving huge spaces for average opponents to look like Barcelona in. Coyle excellent except for 1 second and hope that teaches him. Antonnson was looking good and will score Would Mowatt have done anything yesterday or did Berardi's injury screw with changes. Hernandez and Bridcutt would have made a difference. But we got beat, we looked poor except for flashes where we looked exceptionally promising. 'Sort it Gary' which should be a new T Shirt slogan
Morning Elland, we need to dip into the transfer market as we need much better in midfield. Bridcutt would help but I still think we need another experienced playmaker. We're not gonna sign on though. As I said in another thread Monk has to shoulder some blame for his team selection. Both Beradi and Dallas have hardly trained with the squad and Berra didn't look fit. I'm not hitting the panic button yet cos it is a new and as yet an unfinished squad and Monk doesn't know his best starting eleven yet but we need to improve quickly and get some points on the board. If not I can see another Darko situation arising with us falling well behind the pace and confidence going. Sadly with Cellino owning the club, we will never afford the quality we need to progress. Let's hope there's some truth in the Chinese rumours
Morning all... It wasn't the result that upset me, it was the performance, I don't even know if I can blame it on fitness, how fit do you need to be to pass a ball from one player to another. If that was Monk peaking a team for the start of a new season then we are in trouble. I say don't rest anyone against fleetwood, let's get a first team 11 out there getting used to one another. Let's give them a bit more time, Sacko should start, Hernandez will replace Grimes who we might as well send back now. Grimes was even worse than Mowatt, not even a minuscule of anything positive was shown by him. If those two don't change things then we need to change the formation because I can't see Wood, Roofe, Hernandez and Antonnson fitting into the same team
It was not so much the defeat it was the manner of the defeat. I think it was more disappointing because most of us had higher hopes than usual. I think it was a record time for our disappointment to kick in it usually takes about eight weeks this time it took two hours.
Morning all. No need to panic, still level with the two dead certs for promotion Villa and Newcastle Anyway, busy week ahead, enough resting done
Agreed and I wouldn't be putting any money on Atalanta to do well this season either based on yesterday's performance
Morning all **** start to the season but things can only go up especially as we are stuck to the foot of the table. Monk said we needed strengthening and yesterday proved it, hopefully he will learn and bring in more players in the positions needed. TBH I think we should be playing a traditional 442. Didn't we loose against Derby during the opening day of the 2010/11 season and ended up 7th
Morning all. Thats it then, the seasons over after one game. I made the mistake of going on Twitter during and shortly after the match. Cellino will not need to to worry about paying back season tickets as most were torn up yesterday. The end of the world was upon us and all that optimism was for nothing. All because of a bad 90 minutes. Don't get me wrong, I was unhappy with yesterdays performance but I also learned a long time ago not to make knee jerk reactions to anything to do with Leeds Utd. I will decide on how we are going to do in a couple more weeks after 5/6 games have been played and the transfer window is shut. The passing was woeful yesterday and the players looked like they could do with another couple of weeks pre season training. They seemed two steps behind QPR all the time, The first goal was a freak incident if you ask me. There were that many players in the area the ball could have, and did, deflect anywhere. The way it hit Viera and shot upwards no one could anticipate. People blaming Green, he probably could have done better but I also felt he was slightly impeded by Onuha and could not jump as well as he would have liked. Green is on the short side for a keeper so when surrounded by the likes of Bamba, Onuha and Caulker he was always at a disadvantage. Im not happy with yesterday by any means but I am certainly not going to write us off after one game. We are still on the same points as Newcastle and only three points off automatic promotion.
When you had Warnock he brought in loads of players (mainly from Pompey) and you were all here saying give them time to gel we will be ok Then you had Hockawally you brought in loads of players and you were all here saying give them time to gel we will be ok Now you have Monk youve bought in loads of players still saying give them time to gel some are saying you need MORE signings Ambitious clubs KEEP their best REPLACE the worst Can you see where its all going wrong yet ? anyone ever seen the film groundhog day any manager coming in will need at least 2 or 3 seasons to sort your mess out Cellino will give them 2 or 3 weeks if they are lucky
maybe i dont know what ****e you read but heres the first line of your post Morning Elland, we need to dip into the transfer market how many new signings have you had under Cellino that have so far taken you to the bottom of the league How far do you want to drop
http://www.ihateleeds.com/2016/monks-first-game-shows-leeds-need-quality/ Agree totally with what this guy writes
You should have applied for the Wallies job after Hollowhead relegated you mate, maybe with your knowledge you could get out of the pub league because 'Arris failed you
It's not so much a case of the season over in August, it's more the season not starting till September in our case There's no way we were going to be ready, and it showed. Terrible preparation, nowhere near enough quality preseason games, criminal really It's as though we'll be using August to get match fit for September - totally amateurish I do believe we have some quality players in there, but if they're already half a yard off the pace from the off and playing catch up from September onwards, then it's just a total shambles
Exactly Wolves great shout, as I remember it well. we were all chuffed to bits about Grayson getting us up and first game we got battered and looked out of our depth. Grayson and Bates took stick because we didn't bring in any quality like Hooper or Ricky Lambert who were available. We finished up being in the top 6 all season and at Xmas we were top and odds on for going straight through into the prem. Either Norwich or Southampton did go straight through from L1 to Prem and we finished 7th. Begining of the end for Grayson because he begged Bates to give him cash in January and Batestold him to do one as we were top and guaranteed to go up ...... Cheer up you miserable fookers. Derby scared me to death that day and made me think we were in trouble. Grayson was a good manager and I think Monk will be better
