All smoke and mirrors from the Allams. It was always going to end this way. Bullshitters of the first degree.
I doubt it would be. I think the deal would be something like the following: Purchase price = Goodwill + Other Intangible Assets + Other Assets - Liabilities So if the club bought a player then either they would pay up front (increase other intangible assets and reduce other assets) or owe the money (increase other intangible assets and liabilities) The way clubs account for players is such that there would be relatively little change to the net value every month
I have long suspected their plan is to run the club on a shoestring budget while taking out all the profit. This would go on for as long as there is cash available. In the meantime they have to make a token effort. If the club doesn't do the basics they might lose income. That's why they have held on to Huddlestone and Elmohamady. I'd like to be wrong about this, but I expect a disaster this season and next.
The Allams owning a football is the world's greatest argument against private property. Abolish this spooky ****.
If there's any sense or semblance of judgment left at all then he has to be given it today, and hopefully he'll have had the initiative to prepare a shortlist of players too to hand in to the esteemed Ehab Allam. It's gone on too long, it's far too close now to go on any further, let him get started and back him. We're not playing any old team on Saturday are we, we're playing the champions. It's time to show the competition and the long-suffering fans some respect.
If I was Phelan I wouldn't want my first managerial job to be that of a sinking ship. If this season ends up as bad as we imagine, he will either be sacked or just never get another managers job again.
Another fine mess. What a couple of useless knobheads the Allams are. We might end up having to play a couple of marine generators in our starting eleven.
Phelan strikes me as a training ground manager who likes working with players. Stepping up means a lot less of that and a lot more media and talking to agents and recruiting. It means replacing himself and Keith Bertschin with 2 new coaches and if the Allams stay it means being their PR manager. Not sure how he'll handle it, imagine a few Nigel Pearson strops but we are running out of time.
I suspect he might be announced as a caretaker, with a prospective takeover given as the reason for not making a permanent appointment. While Assem announces that Chris Coleman isn't an honourable man and doesn't wear a tie.
I think one of the most galling things is we won't ever get an explanation as to why this Summer has been such a shambles. Aside from the usual fan based reasoning of "oh he's a twat", an actual reason from the Allams, or even just a '**** you Tigers fans' burned onto the side of Elloughton Dale in 50ft lettering would be nice, to at least acknowledge us.
I have a phelan this season could be quite enjoyable. We are not expected to win any games and we could surprise a few teams. Surprise them that we can actually field 11 ****ing players.
