Perhaps we are keeping our options open - Matuidi, Rodriguez or Pogba ....or £30m, £71m or £100m............

Why the hell would we pay £71m for Rodriquez? They paid less for him and they can't find any use for him. Why is the world would we pay that much for him? We must be fkin mugs!

On Wiki it says that RM 'reportedly' paid 80m Euros for him in 2014

I really hope this is bullshit, I would love us buy to somebody (anybody) else and say "sorry Paul, you ****ed us about too long". I would even be quite happy to go with what we have for this season, it should be good enough in this league.

I think the deals done, but I really don't get why this is just going on and on, it's so tedious now.

    WTF is going on?

Surely he has his medical, agrees terms, holds up a Man Utd shirt and that's it. Or is he special and different?

    Very odd tbh

They are all in on it. The clubs, the managers, player and his agent.

The more mystic they create around the player, the more hype they generate and consequently creating a global buzz. That's really what they want out of it. It's like when you buy a Bentley, you surely wouldn't want to be doing it with as though it is a regular purchase. It's happened with every mega deals where it just drags on and on and then they finally unveil the player to 70,000 fans that have been jizzing themselves all summer.

Create a charade around the player and you make him into face of the club and superstar category.

Mind you, the above does not make the whole sequence of events any less idiotic because I would love the football to just speak rather than the bs amount paid.

Yep, pretty much splattered across most of the sporting media. We're in London, Juve are playing West Ham in London, so hopefully everything signed off today.

Yep. Can't wait for the bs to end.

I can understand juventus doing all they can to pretend that they are a huge club who didn't need to sell their best player. On the other hand, I can see united already building Pogba up as the best player of the universe. If they can recoup at least £10m a year through increased shirt sales, exhibition matches, sponsorships etc by having the most expensive player in the world then it would been worth it from their point of view.

Despite all the hype, I just hope that he can deliver.

I think he will certainly make a different. He has enough skills and experience of the EPL to succeed. If the team can catch a positive momentum with him at the fulcrum, there will be holding back. What does concern me is playing him as defensive midfielder rather than attacking one in order to accommodate Mr. Rooney. I think the whole dilemma with Rooney for LvG contributed to the demise of the team. Sir Alex would have sold Rooney two years ago without a doubt!

Woody is a money making bastard!!! He planned the timing. Make him arrive on first game at Wembley when the whole world is watching. What a money-making-knut!

Bottom line - we went toe to toe with RM to sign one of the world's best young players and we got him. I'm always fast to have a go at Woody but credit where credit is due, this is a world class signing and has been played out to maximum commercial effect throughout the Summer. Let's all hope it was worth it, but look at the positives, unlike any other signing the guy is fully familiar with the club, the culture and his surroundings - even his team-mates will be familiar to him, so he should be able to hit the ground running.. Exciting times.

    Why?

Paying well over the odds for a player. I think he's being globally laughed at tbh.

Love the way everyone's making out he timed it perfectly etc. Never heard so much nonsense in all my life.

The hold up was about agent fee's ffs. Perfect timing would have been ready for pre-season!

Well, people have been questioning the astronomical transfer fee. How did we manage to beat RM to his signature? How did we beat the likes of Barcelona too when United had no cl football to offer?

The player is worth £60m we are told and so United have just to offer that and juventus says: "Ok, Nice one. Take our best player in the last 4 years and the key to our 4 titles for £60m and we buy Higuain for £75m"

It is nice to live in cloud cuckoo land <whistle>

What a load of bs! The only way for United to get Pogba was to pay "well over the odds". That or no chance whatsoever.
